SUMUT DOMINO TOURNAMENT 2026: PORDI North Sumatra hosts the Sumut Domino Tournament 2026 featuring dozens of players from various regions over two competition days on Jalan Haji Anif, Medan.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM The Regional Board of the Indonesian Domino Sports Association (Persatuan Olahraga Domino Indonesia/PORDI) North Sumatra successfully organized the Sumut Domino Tournament 2026, held on May 30–31, 2026, along Jalan Haji Anif in Medan.

The event attracted dozens of participants from various regions and was conducted in a hybrid format, combining both online and offline competition systems. Throughout the two-day tournament, the venue remained lively with players and spectators filling the area.

Strong Participation and Competitive Atmosphere

From the opening day, the tournament venue saw continuous activity as matches were held in rotation to accommodate all participants. Spectators closely followed fast-paced and highly competitive games, adding to the excitement inside the arena.

The intensity of the competition peaked during the final rounds, where top players faced off in decisive matches. Several highlight moments drew enthusiastic reactions and applause from the audience.

PORDI Focuses on Athlete Development

PORDI North Sumatra Chairman Zulhidayat emphasized that the tournament marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between PORDI and Higgs Games Island (HGI).

"This tournament is an important moment for all of us. It represents the first major collaboration between PORDI and Higgs Games Island. The competition was held in a hybrid format, and moving forward, both organizations will continue to expand domino tournaments—not only to unite players in North Sumatra but also to elevate this sport to the international stage," he said after the event.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts to build a structured athlete development system across North Sumatra.

Talent Scouting Across All Regions

Zulhidayat further explained that PORDI and HGI are committed to developing domino as a competitive sport through a systematic training framework that focuses on strategy, mental strength, and talent development.

"We are currently designing a structured training program that includes strategic thinking, mental resilience, and athlete development. We also aim to identify potential players from all regions of Indonesia and build a strong competition network from local to national levels," he added.

As part of its long-term strategy, PORDI North Sumatra is also preparing a comprehensive scouting program across 33 districts and cities in the province to identify and nurture emerging talent.

The association expressed its appreciation to all stakeholders, sponsors, and police units who supported the successful execution of the tournament.

At the conclusion of the event, trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners. Ipda Agus Gunawan from the Brimob unit of the North Sumatra Regional Police secured first place in the general category. (IDNC)
