LANGSA | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Provincial Secretary M. Nasir has called on the public to adopt a healthier lifestyle by actively engaging in sports. He emphasized that recreational sports are no longer merely leisure activities but have become an essential part of improving overall quality of life.
The statement was delivered during the official inauguration ceremony of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of Langsa City for the 2026–2030 term, held at the Hall of the Langsa Mayor's Pendopo on Sunday (May 10, 2026).
Rising Concern Over Physical Inactivity

"In this fast-paced digital era, people tend to adopt increasingly sedentary lifestyles," he said.
He also referred to data from Indonesia's Ministry of Health (Riskesdas 2023), which shows that only 32.8% of the population engages in at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity, while 67.2% are classified as physically inactive.

Nasir underscored the strategic role of KORMI in fostering a culture of movement and health within society. He stressed that sports should not be seen solely as competitive achievement.
"KORMI must become a driving force in building a culture of health and fitness. Sports are not only about podium finishes but also about enjoyment, movement, and an active lifestyle," he stated.

Preserving Traditional Sports for Future GenerationsHe further called for stronger collaboration between KORMI Langsa, the municipal government, and the Aceh provincial administration to implement joint programs. Special attention, he noted, should be given to preserving Aceh's traditional sports so they remain relevant for younger generations, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

Appreciation for Langsa City Government
At the end of his speech, Nasir expressed appreciation to the Langsa City Government for its support in hosting the event.
"On behalf of the Government of Aceh, we thank the City of Langsa for providing the mayor's pendopo, which reflects strong support for the development of community sports," he concluded. (IDNC)
