MEDAN POLONIA REACH THE PEMUDA PANCASILA CUP FINAL Medan Polonia’s Pemuda Pancasila football team secured a place in the final with a 2–1 victory over Medan Labuhan at Kebun Bunga Stadium on Saturday, 17 October 2026.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Medan Polonia's Pemuda Pancasila football team have reached the final of the Pemuda Pancasila Medan Branch Leadership Council (MPC) Cup after defeating Medan Labuhan 2–1 in a dramatic semi-final at Kebun Bunga Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 17 October 2026.

Medan Polonia will face Medan Sunggal in the final after the latter beat Medan Area 3–1 in the other semi-final. The upcoming match gives Medan Polonia an opportunity to fulfil their ambition of winning the tournament.

Afra Opens the Scoring, Irawan Seals Victory

Medan Polonia started aggressively, putting pressure on Medan Labuhan's defence in search of an early goal. Their efforts paid off in the 12th minute when Afra, wearing shirt number 24, put his team ahead after converting a precise pass from a team-mate.

Medan Labuhan responded with determination and continued looking for opportunities to break through Medan Polonia's defence. Shortly before half-time, Jefri equalised to make it 1–1, leaving both teams level at the break.

After the restart, Medan Polonia increased the pressure and sought to regain the lead, while Medan Labuhan worked to maintain their defensive shape and contain the attacks.

As the match progressed, both sides continued searching for a decisive goal. Medan Labuhan initially managed to withstand Medan Polonia's advances, but Irawan eventually broke the deadlock with a powerful shot to make it 2–1.

The goal sparked celebrations among Medan Polonia's supporters at Kebun Bunga Stadium. Medan Labuhan could not find another equaliser before the final whistle, confirming Medan Polonia's place in the final.

Rommy Van Boy Urges Players to Stay Focused

Rommy Van Boy, S.H., chairman of the Medan Polonia branch of Pemuda Pancasila and a Medan City Council member representing the Golkar Party, praised the players for their determination, discipline and commitment throughout the match.

"I have great respect for the players who fought until the end. The fighting spirit they showed demonstrates their quality as potential champions," Rommy said.

However, he cautioned the team against becoming complacent after the semi-final victory. Reaching the final was an important achievement, he said, but the players still needed to win one more match to secure the trophy.

"We must not celebrate this victory excessively because an important match still awaits us in the final. Every player must remain focused because winning the title has been our goal from the beginning," he said.

Rommy's message was intended to keep the team focused, disciplined and united ahead of the decisive match. Medan Polonia must build on their performance against Medan Labuhan while preparing strategically for Medan Sunggal.

With the trophy now within reach, the team will need to maintain its performance and avoid allowing the semi-final victory to become its final achievement in the competition.

Teamwork Underpins Medan Polonia's Progress

Medan Polonia's run to the final has depended not only on the players' performances but also on the support of the branch leadership, team management and coaching staff.

Rommy Van Boy supported the team throughout the tournament, helping maintain the players' motivation before and during matches. Branch secretary Aminurasid also provided guidance and support, while M. Umar and Munte were involved in team management.

Branch treasurer Rico Van Boy contributed moral and financial support to help meet the team's needs during the competition.

The team was also accompanied throughout the tournament by support staff Samuel Raja, M. Yacob, Ruliadi, Rawi Arima, Sudar, Harun, Pupay and Alvines.

The involvement of players, officials, management and support staff highlights the importance of teamwork in sustaining a successful campaign. Maintaining that unity will be essential as Medan Polonia prepare for the final.

Their opponents, Medan Sunggal, will also enter the match with confidence after defeating Medan Area 3–1 in the other semi-final.

The final will test both teams' consistency, attacking effectiveness and mental strength. Medan Polonia will need to maintain their attacking threat, strengthen their defensive organisation and avoid mistakes that Medan Sunggal could exploit.

Having overcome Medan Labuhan through determination and a late winning goal, Medan Polonia are now one victory away from achieving their original target. Winning the trophy would mark a significant accomplishment for the team and bring pride to the Pemuda Pancasila community in Medan Polonia. (IDNC)
