DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Government of Deli Serdang Regency has strongly expressed its support for the national championship event, Kejurnas Sprint Rally Round 1 North Sumatra 2026, held in Batang Kuis. The event is seen as a strategic boost for sports tourism development and the nurturing of young motorsport talent in the region.
Strong Support for Sports Tourism
Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang, Lom Lom Suwondo, reaffirmed the local government's commitment during his visit to the Trophy Gubernur Sumatera Utara event, held at the North Sumatra Main Stadium in Batang Kuis.

"We greatly welcome and appreciate the Sprint Rally championship. Beyond being a motorsport competition, this event also serves to promote the region and encourage economic growth through sports tourism," said Lom Lom Suwondo.

The opening round of the Kejurnas Sprint Rally 2026 features around 50 drivers from various regions across Indonesia. Several well-known national rally figures, including Ryan Nirwan alongside Glenn Nirwan, Haji Rahmat, and Musa Rajekshah, are also taking part in the competition.
Over two days, participants compete across multiple classes to collect points and secure titles. Categories include RC 1 to RC 4, Group M, F, R, and J, as well as additional classes for non-seeded drivers, female participants, and the "Best Driver U-23" category.

Lom Lom Suwondo also highlighted the importance of the event in developing young motorsport talent, particularly from North Sumatra and Deli Serdang. He expressed hope that the competition would produce future champions capable of competing at national and international levels.
"We hope this event will give rise to young talented drivers who can achieve success nationally and internationally. It is also an opportunity to encourage the younger generation to develop a positive interest in motorsport," he added. (IDNC)
