MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Five karateka from Dojo Alfarizi are participating in the Gashuku and Zone 1 Regional DAN Examination of the Indonesian National Karate-Do Institute (INKANAS), held from October 8 to 11, 2026, at the North Sumatra Sports Center in Medan. The event carries the theme "INKANAS EMAS" and forms part of an ongoing development program designed to improve the athletes' technical skills, physical endurance, discipline, and mental maturity as they prepare for the black belt examination.

The five athletes, Faisal, Abbas, Andika, Kanza, and Hanifah, are determined to give their best while proudly representing Dojo Alfarizi. The program includes intensive joint training sessions with karateka from across Zone 1, followed by the DAN examination, which represents an important milestone in a karateka's sporting and personal development.

Dojo Alfarizi coach Senpai Sanusi expressed his pride and gratitude for the opportunity given to his five athletes. Their participation, he said, reflects the consistent training, discipline, and dedication they have demonstrated throughout their regular practice sessions at the dojo.

Gashuku and DAN Examination as Key Stages in Karate Training

Gashuku is an organized intensive group training program that gives karateka an opportunity to refine their techniques, improve physical fitness, strengthen concentration, and develop mental resilience when facing challenges.

The intensive sessions also aim to cultivate discipline, strengthen camaraderie, and promote mutual respect among karateka. Participants must be physically well prepared while learning to control their emotions so they can complete every part of the program successfully.

Meanwhile, the DAN examination serves as an important assessment for karateka seeking to advance to a higher level of black belt proficiency. Technical mastery is not the only requirement. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate commitment, discipline, self-control, and a thorough understanding of the values underpinning the martial art of karate.

For the five athletes from Dojo Alfarizi, participating in this regional event provides a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the skills they have developed through regular training. They can also gain further experience by training alongside participants from various dojos throughout Zone 1.

The theme "INKANAS EMAS" highlights the pursuit of sporting achievements, excellence, and high standards in karate training. Participants are therefore encouraged to focus not only on examination results but also on their personal development as karateka who uphold discipline, fairness, and ethical principles.

Sanusi Emphasizes Discipline, Perseverance, and Strong Character

Senpai Sanusi considers his five athletes' participation in the Gashuku and Zone 1 Regional DAN Examination an important achievement. He emphasized that the event is not merely an opportunity to take an examination for the next belt rank. Rather, it also represents the culmination of a long development process requiring consistent training, commitment, and perseverance.

"I am very proud and grateful that our five outstanding athletes have been given the opportunity to participate in the Gashuku and Zone 1 Regional DAN Examination under the theme 'INKANAS EMAS.' This is not simply an examination for the next belt rank, but also recognition of their consistent training, discipline, and tireless dedication, which they demonstrate every day at the dojo. The Gashuku will test their physical and mental endurance, while the DAN examination will demonstrate a karateka's technical maturity and character. I want to remind them to maintain good conduct, respect the examination panel, and approach the examinations calmly and with full concentration. Remember, karate is not just about earning a black belt; it is about becoming a stronger, more honest person with a well-developed character," Sanusi said.

His message underscores that a karateka's success cannot be measured solely by the belt rank achieved. Equally important are exemplary conduct, respect for others, adherence to rules, and the application of karate values in everyday life.

Sanusi hopes his five athletes will remain composed and confident throughout the examinations. He also reminded them to respect the examination panel, approach every stage seriously, and regard the entire process as an opportunity to further develop their abilities and character.

In his view, physical endurance, mental maturity, and personal integrity must go hand in hand. Earning a black belt should therefore not be regarded as the end of the journey, but as part of a longer path toward becoming responsible, honest, and self-disciplined individuals.

Parental Support and Hopes for the Best Possible Results

Family support plays an important role in developing athletes, helping them maintain motivation and training discipline over the long term. Sanusi expressed his appreciation to the parents who have consistently supported the five athletes, both during regular training sessions and at regional events.

He hopes this support will provide additional motivation for Faisal, Abbas, Andika, Kanza, and Hanifah to perform at their best during the Gashuku and DAN examination. In his assessment, cooperation among athletes, coaches, and parents is a key element in creating a positive and sustainable training environment.

Sanusi also hopes the five karateka's participation will inspire other members of Dojo Alfarizi. Their regional-level experience is expected to encourage younger karateka to train with greater commitment, maintain discipline, and pursue new opportunities to improve their abilities.

"Let us bring the spirit of INKANAS EMAS to life through achievements we can be proud of and noble character. I hope all five athletes pass the examinations with the best possible results and become role models for their fellow trainees," he said.

The participation of Faisal, Abbas, Andika, Kanza, and Hanifah in the INKANAS Zone 1 Gashuku and Regional DAN Examination from October 8 to 11, 2026, marks an important opportunity for them to demonstrate their readiness for the examinations while broadening their experience in the world of karate.

Through continuous and sustainable development efforts, Dojo Alfarizi aims to produce more athletes who excel not only in technical ability and sporting performance but also in integrity, discipline, and exemplary character. The spirit of "INKANAS EMAS" is expected to motivate karateka to achieve their goals without losing sight of the high ethical values of karate. (IDNC)
