LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Efforts to promote the younger generation through sports have gained fresh momentum in Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The Banjar Jaya Sports Hall (GOR) in Kampung Banjar 2, Kotapinang, was officially opened on Friday, August 21, 2026. The facility, which features two badminton courts, provides residents, particularly young people, with a new space to train, develop their talents and pursue sporting achievements.
The opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya took place in a spirit of togetherness.
Kotapinang District Head Khoirul Efendi Batu Bara attended the event, along with several badminton clubs (PB) from various parts of Labuhanbatu Selatan. The presence of the badminton community underscored its support for the development of sports, particularly badminton, in the region.
The owner and operator of GOR Banjar Jaya, H. Sofian Siregar, expressed his appreciation to everyone who took part in the opening ceremony. In his view, support from communities, the government, athletes, coaches and residents is an important part of building a sports facility that can provide broad benefits to society.
"We sincerely thank the
Kotapinang District Head for attending, as well as PB Satu Jiwa, PB Min, PB Perisai and other clubs in Labuhanbatu Selatan. Without all of our involvement, the opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya in
Kotapinang would not have been possible," H. Sofian Siregar said at the event.
According to Sofian, GOR Banjar Jaya was not established solely to meet the needs of its operator, but also to provide badminton enthusiasts with a suitable place to practice. The facility is intended to serve as a gathering place where people can train while improving their sporting abilities.
Promoting Young Badminton Talent
Sofian emphasized that sports development requires the involvement of many stakeholders. Sports facility operators, clubs, athletes, coaches, parents and the government must work together to create a healthy and sustainable sporting environment.
He hopes
GOR Banjar Jaya will become a shared home for badminton enthusiasts in Labuhanbatu Selatan. The facility is not intended merely as a place to play, but also as a venue for developing
young athletes who are determined to achieve sporting success.
"We hope this sports hall can become a shared place. Let us use this facility to nurture young people so they can achieve greater success," he said.
Adequate sports infrastructure also gives children and teenagers more opportunities to engage in positive activities. Through badminton training, young people can spend their free time in healthy pursuits while learning important values such as discipline, hard work, fair play and responsibility.
A badminton court can also provide children with an opportunity to develop a competitive mindset. They learn how to deal with victories and defeats, respect their opponents and continually assess their performance in order to improve their abilities.
Meanwhile,
Kotapinang District Head Khoirul Efendi Batu Bara congratulated the community on the opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya in Kampung Banjar 2. He welcomed the new sports facility, which gives residents additional opportunities to develop their interests and talents.
"Congratulations and best wishes on the opening of GOR Banjar Jaya. May this place help produce many outstanding talents," Khoirul Efendi said.
Khoirul hopes
GOR Banjar Jaya can develop into a training center for badminton athletes. The facility is expected to help produce talented athletes who can not only raise the profile of
Kotapinang and Labuhanbatu Selatan, but also compete at the provincial and national levels.

A Positive Space for the Younger Generation
Beyond promoting sporting achievements, GOR Banjar Jaya also has an important social function, according to Khoirul. The younger generation needs spaces for healthy and productive activities so that they are less vulnerable to being drawn into various negative activities.
He hopes sporting activities at
GOR Banjar Jaya can help keep children and teenagers away from drug abuse. Sports can serve as a means of building positive habits while strengthening the character of the younger generation.
"We hope GOR Banjar Jaya can help keep young people away from drugs while also becoming a center for the development of young badminton athletes," he said.
The message underscores the significance of the opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya. Sports are not solely about winning on the court; they also play an important role in character building. Children who train regularly go through a lengthy process that requires discipline and perseverance.
Continuous training teaches athletes that sporting success does not happen overnight. Athletes must train, overcome setbacks, accept criticism and evaluation, improve their weaknesses and then make another effort to achieve better results.
The opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya therefore provides fresh momentum for badminton development in
Kotapinang and Labuhanbatu Selatan. Badminton is popular among people of various age groups, meaning the demand for suitable training facilities continues to grow.
With two badminton courts now available, residents have a more representative venue for training and developing their abilities. The facility also gives communities an opportunity to organize sporting activities in a more structured manner.

Strengthening the Badminton Network in Labuhanbatu Selatan
The opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya also highlighted the important role of badminton clubs in building a functioning sporting environment. Among the clubs attending were PB Satu Jiwa, PB Min and PB Perisai, along with other badminton associations from Labuhanbatu Selatan.
The growing number of clubs and training facilities can create healthy competition. Players can use these opportunities to test their abilities, improve their techniques, enhance their physical fitness and build the mental strength required for competition.
Competition among athletes should nevertheless be guided by camaraderie and fair play. In this way, competition does not merely produce winners, but also helps every player continue developing and improving the quality of their game.
GOR Banjar Jaya also has the potential to become a meeting point for different badminton communities in Kotapinang. Operators and communities can use the facility for joint training sessions, tournaments and youth development programs.
If the facility is properly managed and continues to receive support from various stakeholders,
GOR Banjar Jaya can play a greater role in
sports development in Labuhanbatu Selatan. Structured training programs can help
young athletes develop their abilities step by step.
More than just a building with badminton courts, GOR Banjar Jaya can become a starting point for community-based sports development. From this venue, children and teenagers will have an opportunity to develop their abilities while learning how sporting success is achieved through a continuous process.
The opening of
GOR Banjar Jaya thus brings new hope for badminton in Labuhanbatu Selatan. Sofian Siregar hopes the spirit of togetherness displayed at the opening will continue, while
Kotapinang District Head Khoirul Efendi Batu Bara has expressed his support for ensuring that the facility benefits the community.
With a racket in hand, the determination to train and the support of the community, the younger generation in Kotapinang now has a new space to pursue sporting achievements. Every training session and every match at GOR Banjar Jaya can become part of a journey toward producing healthy, disciplined and strong-minded badminton athletes capable of carrying the name of Labuhanbatu Selatan to a higher level.
