BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - DPRK Banda Aceh had to settle for second place in the Trofeo Corner Arena – Special Kemerdekaan. The tournament was held on Monday afternoon, August 17, 2026, at the Corner Arena sports field in Lampriet, Banda Aceh. The DPRK team showed strong fighting spirit and bounced back after suffering a defeat in the opening match.
The tournament was held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. Three teams took part:
DPRK Banda Aceh,
PLN UID Aceh and
Skull Persiraja. The three teams faced one another in a trofeo format, with the team collecting the most points at the end of the tournament crowned the winner.
The matches took place in a lively atmosphere. In addition to providing sporting competition, the tournament also served to strengthen solidarity and friendship. At the same time, it gave the public, particularly the younger generation, an opportunity to commemorate Independence Day through positive sporting activities.
DPRK Suffers Defeat in Opening Match
The DPRK Banda Aceh squad was reinforced by several members of the city council, including DPRK Chairman Irwansyah ST, Teuku Nanta Muda, Aulia Rahman and Zidan Al Hafidz. Faisal Ridha and T Iqbal Johan were also present to support the team.
Irwansyah ST personally kicked off the match and also joined the
DPRK Banda Aceh team on the field. The presence of several council members drew additional attention and created an even more lively atmosphere during the match.
In its opening game, DPRK Banda Aceh faced Skull Persiraja. However, the DPRK side was unable to make a winning start to the tournament and lost 3-1 to Skull Persiraja.
Both teams played offensively from the outset. They repeatedly launched attacks and put pressure on their opponents' defensive lines.
Skull Persiraja proved more efficient in front of goal. The team capitalized on its opportunities and scored three goals, while DPRK Banda Aceh managed only one goal, scored by Irwandi.
The victory over
DPRK Banda Aceh gave
Skull Persiraja an important advantage ahead of its subsequent match against
PLN UID Aceh.
Skull Persiraja also prevailed in that encounter, securing a narrow 1-0 victory.
With two wins, Skull Persiraja collected the maximum number of points and was crowned champion of the Trofeo Corner Arena – Special Kemerdekaan.

DPRK Fights Back with Convincing Win
DPRK Banda Aceh refused to be discouraged by its opening-match defeat. Against
PLN UID Aceh, the team adopted a more attacking approach and immediately put its opponents under pressure from the early stages.
The tactical and playing adjustments paid off. DPRK Banda Aceh dominated the match and scored four goals, while PLN UID Aceh managed just one.
Zidan Al Hafidz and Aulia Rahman, both members of
DPRK Banda Aceh, got their names on the scoresheet. Fauzan, a
DPRK Banda Aceh staff member, also scored.
The 4-1 victory secured second place for DPRK Banda Aceh in the final standings. The result also represented an impressive response to the team's earlier 3-1 defeat to Skull Persiraja.
DPRK Banda Aceh's tournament campaign therefore showed a positive response to its disappointing opening. The team improved its performance and concluded the tournament with a convincing victory.
Independence Day as an Opportunity for Youth
Beyond the competition for the tournament title, the
Trofeo Corner Arena was marked by a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere. Players from all three teams used the matches not only for sporting competition but also to maintain relationships and strengthen solidarity.
DPRK Banda Aceh Chairman Irwansyah ST said events such as the Trofeo Corner Arena provided an opportunity to commemorate Independence Day together while also creating space for the public, particularly young people, to engage in positive activities.
"Events like this are not only an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of independence, but also an expression of our appreciation and full support for events in Banda Aceh. At the same time, they provide space for the younger generation," he said.
Irwansyah reaffirmed DPRK Banda Aceh's support for various events and positive activities in Banda Aceh. The more sporting events and positive activities that are available, he said, the greater the opportunities for young people to channel their energy and creativity in meaningful ways.
He also called on the public to continue supporting and revitalizing various positive activities in Banda Aceh. Sports and community activities can provide the younger generation with opportunities to develop their abilities while keeping them away from activities that could have negative consequences.
Meanwhile, Corner Arena owner Imam presented prizes to the winners in recognition of all the teams' participation in the tournament. The awards ceremony marked the conclusion of the matches, which were characterized by sporting fair play and a friendly atmosphere.
Although
DPRK Banda Aceh finished only as runners-up, the team demonstrated strong fighting spirit and fought back after its opening-match defeat.
Skull Persiraja, meanwhile, was crowned tournament champion after winning both of its matches.
The tournament not only provided exciting football action but also formed part of the Independence Day celebrations of the Republic of Indonesia in Banda Aceh.
