DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Tour de Deli Serdang 2026 cycling event has set a new record in its history, recording the highest number of participants to date. A total of 1,300 cyclists from various cycling communities, districts, and regions across Kabupaten Deli Serdang joined the sporting event, which unfolded in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
The event is part of the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of Kabupaten Deli Serdang. The route began at Emplasemen Kualanamu Field in Beringin District and concluded at the Main Stadium of North Sumatra in Batang Kuis District. Along the route, participants were warmly welcomed by large numbers of residents lining the streets.

Support for National APKASI Agenda
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan emphasized that the event serves not only as a sports platform but also as an important medium for strengthening social relations and community cohesion. He also highlighted its strategic relevance ahead of upcoming national-scale events in the region.
He further noted that Deli Serdang will host the 25th anniversary celebration of the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (Asosiasi Pemerintah Kabupaten Seluruh Indonesia/APKASI) as well as the Putri Otonomi Daerah pageant, with approximately 227 regional heads from across Indonesia expected to attend.
"Deli Serdang will host the 25th APKASI anniversary and the Putri Otonomi Daerah pageant. Nearly 227 regents from across Indonesia will be present. We aim to welcome them warmly and showcase the hospitality of our people. This event will also bring positive impacts to the regional economy," he said.
He added that local businesses, including the hospitality sector, culinary industry, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), are expected to benefit significantly from the event.
Boosting Agricultural Sector Through Strategic Support
Prior to the finish line ceremony, the Regent, accompanied by the Chairperson of TP PKK Jelita Asri Ludin Tambunan and several regional officials, distributed agricultural equipment and machinery (Alsintan) to the Indonesian vine cultivator association in Beringin Village and several farmer groups in Beringin District.
The assistance included a four-wheel tractor as well as production inputs such as bio-fungicides, NPK fertilizer, and organic fertilizer. This initiative is part of the local government's efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen the farming sector.

Social Commitment to Underprivileged Residents
In addition to official programs, the Regent also visited the home of Muhammad Efendi in Tumpatan Nibung Village, Batang Kuis District, which was found to be in uninhabitable condition. The house is included in the target list of the uninhabitable housing renovation program implemented by the Department of Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land (Perkimtan).
He also called for additional support from the village government and the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) to improve the family's living conditions.
"His income is irregular. Please ensure he is included in the Baznas beneficiary list and village assistance programs to ease his monthly burden. He should also be included in the social welfare program from the Social Affairs Office, as he falls into the lowest income decile," he stated.
This statement underscores the regional government's commitment to ensuring targeted and effective social protection programs.
Festive Finish and Hope for Sustainable Event Growth
The finish area at the North Sumatra Main Stadium was filled with excitement. In addition to grand prizes such as electric bicycles and mountain bikes, smartwatches were also distributed through a raffle for lucky participants.
