JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Officers from Battalion B Pelopor of the Jambi Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob), working alongside officers from the Bathin VIII Police Station under the Sarolangun Police Directorate, distributed clean drinking water to residents of Pulau Lintang Village, Bathin VIII District, Sarolangun Regency, on Saturday, 24 October 2026. The community assistance initiative forms part of the Indonesian National Police's (Polri) efforts to help residents meet their basic needs while strengthening relations between the police and the local community.
The operation was led directly by AKP Harles Sihombing, commander of Company 1 of Battalion B Pelopor. Together with officers from the Bathin VIII Police Station, Brimob personnel were present in the village to distribute clean water to residents in need.
Through this initiative, the police reaffirmed that their responsibilities extend beyond maintaining security and public order to include social and humanitarian assistance. The provision of clean water demonstrates their commitment to supporting the welfare of communities within their area of responsibility.
Strengthening Humanitarian Service to the Community
The water distribution initiative highlights the Jambi Regional Police Mobile Brigade's efforts to respond to community needs through practical measures that deliver immediate benefits. The presence of officers in the village also provided an opportunity to engage with residents, build closer personal relationships and strengthen community ties.
During the operation, Brimob personnel worked alongside officers from the Bathin VIII Police Station to distribute the assistance to the people of
Pulau Lintang. The cooperation between the two police units demonstrates the importance of effective coordination in social initiatives designed to address the immediate needs of local communities.
For residents, access to clean water is one of the fundamental requirements of everyday life. The distribution therefore represents not only practical assistance but also a form of community-focused public service that places care for residents and the visible presence of state institutions at its centre.

Jambi Police Chief Highlights Social Responsibility
Jambi Regional Police Chief Inspector General Widodo, speaking through the regional police's Head of Public Relations, Police Commissioner Erlan Munaji, said the
clean water distribution reflected the police's commitment to serving the public and delivering tangible benefits to the community.
"The police are responsible not only for maintaining security and public order but also for fulfilling their social responsibilities and supporting people in need. The distribution of clean water demonstrates the care and commitment of the Jambi Regional Police Mobile Brigade, working together with units from the Sarolangun Police Directorate, to serve the community," the Head of Public Relations said.
The statement underlines that police responsibilities also include addressing the social challenges faced by local communities. Through humanitarian initiatives, officers can establish closer relationships with residents while strengthening public confidence in police services.

Building Public Trust Through Practical Assistance
According to Erlan, the provision of clean water was intended to help meet the needs of
Pulau Lintang residents. He also expressed hope that the presence of police officers among the community would strengthen personal relationships and further enhance public trust in the police.
"We hope this clean water assistance will help meet the needs of the people of Pulau Lintang. The presence of police officers within the community is intended to strengthen public trust, deepen relations between the police and residents, and help build a humane police force that is always ready to serve the public," he said in closing.
The initiative also demonstrates the importance of involving security personnel in social activities that respond to the practical needs of the community. In addition to helping residents obtain clean water, direct contact between police officers and local people creates opportunities for closer dialogue and stronger cooperation.
The Jambi Regional Police Mobile Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its service to the public under the principle, "Brimob is present, the community is cared for." This commitment aligns with the Polri Presisi concept, which promotes precise, accountable and modern policing, alongside public service, compassion and dedication to the community.
Through similar initiatives, the police aim to ensure their services continue to respond promptly and appropriately to the needs of residents. Their presence should be felt not only in maintaining security but also through practical measures that help people and strengthen humanitarian values in community life.
