ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - Concern for the well-being of the community prompted Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., to personally visit residents in Blang Kolak II Village, Bebesen District, Aceh Tengah, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The visit was part of the "Selasa Berkunjung" (SANJUNG) program, through which the police seek to promote direct engagement with the community.

During the visit, Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, Deputy Aceh Tengah Police Chief Kompol Samsir, S.H., and several senior officers of the Aceh Tengah Police held discussions with residents while gaining a firsthand understanding of their living conditions. The presence of the police officers was not focused solely on security issues, but also reflected concern for residents in need of support.

A total of 13 residents received food packages as well as financial or material assistance as a gesture of concern. The assistance was provided as an expression of the police's social responsibility and was also intended to help meet the daily needs of the residents concerned.

Police Chief Builds Direct Contact With Residents

The SANJUNG program provides the Aceh Tengah Police with an opportunity to gain a closer understanding of the lives of local residents. Through direct visits, police officers can learn about the challenges faced by the community while creating a closer channel of communication between the police and residents.

Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo said the activity was part of the Indonesian National Police's efforts to strengthen its relationship with the community. In his view, direct contact is important so that police officers can better understand the situation and needs of residents in their respective communities.

"The SANJUNG program is one of the ways the police maintain contact with the community. We want to see and understand the situation and needs of residents firsthand," AKBP Teguh Siswoyo said.

He emphasized that the duties of the police are not limited to maintaining security and public order. The police must also build close relationships with residents, including through various forms of social assistance.

This approach is important because community problems are not always related to security disturbances. In certain situations, residents also need attention, support and the direct presence of state security forces in their neighborhoods.

For this reason, the police chief and his staff used the SANJUNG activity as an opportunity to speak directly with residents and gain a closer understanding of their living conditions.

Visiting Residents With Long-Term Illnesses

In addition to providing assistance to 13 residents, the Aceh Tengah Police Chief and his staff also visited the homes of two residents who had been suffering from long-term illnesses. The visits were an important part of the SANJUNG program, as the police not only provided material assistance but also offered moral support to the residents and their families.

The presence of the police chief at the homes of residents facing prolonged health problems reflected the police's concern for social challenges within the community. The police chief also brought food packages to help the affected families meet their daily needs.

According to AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, the value of assistance should not be measured solely by its amount or form. What matters most is the attention and concern that residents can experience directly.

"Assistance should not be judged by whether it is big or small. Hopefully, it can help ease the family's needs," he said.

The visit also gave the Aceh Tengah Police an opportunity to learn directly about the circumstances of the families. In this way, communication between the police and the community can be made more open, particularly for residents who need attention and support.

Such a direct approach also strengthens the presence of the police within the community. Residents are expected to see the police not only as an institution responsible for security and law enforcement, but also as part of the social environment with which they can communicate and which can show concern during difficult circumstances.

Residents Urged to Help Maintain Security

On the occasion, the Aceh Tengah Police Chief also called on residents to work together to maintain security and public order in their communities. He urged residents not to hesitate to report various problems they encounter to the police.

Two-way communication between the police and the community is an important element in maintaining security conditions. Residents can provide information about situations in their neighborhoods, while the police can respond to various issues based on conditions identified on the ground.

Blang Kolak II Village Head Idha, S.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the visit by the Aceh Tengah Police Chief and his staff. In his view, the police chief's direct presence among residents demonstrates concern for the community while also helping strengthen the relationship between the Indonesian National Police and residents.

The appreciation also underscores the importance of direct communication between security authorities and residents at the village level. Through visits such as those conducted under the SANJUNG program, residents are given an opportunity to directly convey the conditions and needs of their communities.

The Aceh Tengah Police continues to promote closer communication with residents through the SANJUNG program. The program provides police officers with an opportunity to be directly present in the community, listen to residents' concerns and build stronger relationships with them.

Through regular visits, police officers can better identify developments and conditions affecting residents while strengthening cooperation in maintaining security. The presence of police officers among residents is also expected to encourage the community to be more open in reporting information and problems requiring attention.

The SANJUNG program is therefore not merely a series of visits and assistance deliveries. Rather, it forms part of the Aceh Tengah Police's approach to building closer relations with the community through communication, social concern and direct presence in residents' daily lives.

Through this approach, the Aceh Tengah Police seeks to maintain a lasting relationship with the community. The police are expected to be present not only when security problems arise, but also to listen, understand the situation and respond to the needs of residents. (IDNC)
