DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Regent of Deli Serdang, Asri Ludin Tambunan, officially sent off 56 members of the Deli Serdang kafilah to compete in the 40th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) of North Sumatra Province in 2026. The ceremonial event took place on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Masjid Agung Sultan Thaf Sinar Basarsyah, attended by participants, mentors, and representatives of the regional government.
The delegation will represent Deli Serdang in one of the province's most prestigious Islamic competitions, which not only highlights Qur'anic recitation skills but also promotes deeper understanding and practice of Islamic teachings across North Sumatra.
Strong Support for the MTQ DelegationIn his remarks, Asri Ludin Tambunan expressed pride in the selected participants, emphasizing that they carry the responsibility of representing not only themselves but also the reputation of the regency, their families, and the wider community.
"You are the official representatives of Deli Serdang. What you bring is not only achievement but also the image of our region. Please uphold that trust," he stated.
He also urged participants to maintain discipline, uphold Qur'anic values, and perform at their best throughout the competition.

Increased Incentives to Boost MotivationAs part of its regional development policy, the Regent announced a significant increase in performance incentives for MTQ winners. The previous monthly support of Rp300,000 for district-level champions will be raised to Rp1 million for provincial-level winners.
"This increase is intended to strengthen motivation and encourage learning spirit. We aim to nurture a generation that loves and lives by the Qur'an," Asri Ludin Tambunan explained.
