Quran Enhances Academic Performance at Universitas Medan Area

BRIEF SERMON: H. Dedi Iskandar Batubara emphasizes the role of the Quran in enhancing the performance of lecturers and staff at Universitas Medan Area.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM~ Dr. H. Dedi Iskandar Batubara, member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for the 2024–2029 term from North Sumatra, highlighted that the Quran is the foremost source for improving educational performance at Universitas Medan Area (UMA).

The Quran as a Guiding Principle for Education and Daily Life

During a brief sermon on March 6, 2026, at the At-Taqwa Mosque of UMA, Dedi explained that the Quran serves as the central guide and Al-Huda as a directive for all humanity.

"The Quran is the primary legal source after Hadith, Ijmak, Qiyas, and Ijtihad," he emphasized.

He added that all human activities should be based on Quranic teachings. Dedi cited inspiring stories, including that of Prophet Musa, who stood against the Pharaoh, who claimed divinity and sought to kill all newborn boys.

"Musa was raised under the care of Pharaoh's family," Dedi elaborated.

He also highlighted female figures mentioned in the Quran and Hadith who attained paradise, including Asiya, Pharaoh's wife, Sumayah, the slave of Abu Jahal, and Khadijah, the wife of Prophet Muhammad.

Significance of Nuzulul-Qur'an in Daily Life

At the conclusion of the sermon, Dedi stressed the importance of the Nuzulul-Qur'an night. He reminded attendees to have no doubt about the Quran's truth, which can also serve as motivation for daily activities.

"Those who live by the Quran avoid wasting time, become good lecturers, qualified preachers, and productive staff," he said.

The event began with a communal Zikr and prayer ceremony after the Ashar prayer, followed by the recitation of Quranic verses.

Dr. Zainun MA, chairman of the At-Taqwa Mosque Committee (BKM At-Taqwa), expressed gratitude to Drs. HM. Erwin Siregar, MBA, and Rector Prof. Dr. Dadan Ramdan, M.Eng., MSc, for supporting the Nuzulul-Qur'an event.

"I hope the BKM At-Taqwa program continues consistently. This will boost the performance of UMA lecturers and staff in the long run," said Zainun.

He also expressed his delight over the presence of H. Dedi Iskandar Batubara, a senator who once again shared his knowledge with UMA students and alumni. (IDNC)
