MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM – The Mayor of Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas has expressed full support for the upcoming Tabligh Akbar marking the 109th anniversary of Aisyiyah. The major religious gathering is scheduled for June 14, 2026, in Medan.
The statement of support was delivered during an official meeting between the mayor and the Aisyiyah Medan leadership at the mayor's official residence on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
City Government Support for Community Initiatives
During the meeting, Mayor Rico welcomed the planned event, which will take place at the public square on Jalan Air Bersih in Medan Kota District. He praised Aisyiyah for its long-standing contributions to the city, particularly in religious education, social services, and community empowerment.
He emphasized that the city administration fully supports activities that bring positive benefits to society.
"The Medan City Government consistently supports programs that benefit the public. Aisyiyah has played an important role in strengthening religious education and social values. This Tabligh Akbar is therefore a very positive initiative," Rico said, accompanied by officials from the National and Political Unity Agency and the Social Welfare Office.
Friendship Visit and Official Invitation
Aisyiyah Medan Chairperson Kholisanni Nasution and her delegation used the visit as a goodwill meeting while formally inviting the mayor to attend the anniversary Tabligh Akbar.
She explained that the event is part of the organization's 109th anniversary series and also serves as preparation for the upcoming Aisyiyah congress. Plans are also underway to construct a new Aisyiyah Da'wah building as a center for religious and social programs.
"We plan to hold the Tabligh Akbar on June 14 at Jalan Air Bersih, Medan Kota. This event is part of our anniversary activities and preparation for the Muktamar. We hope the mayor will attend and show his support," she said.
About 1,000 Participants Expected
Kholisanni added that all Aisyiyah branches across Medan are expected to participate in the event, with around 1,000 attendees anticipated.
She expressed hope that the gathering will run smoothly and further strengthen organizational collaboration across the community.
Strengthening Islamic Brotherhood
Responding to the initiative, Mayor Rico Waas praised Aisyiyah's commitment to promoting Islamic values and strengthening social cohesion. He said the event represents an important moment to reinforce Islamic brotherhood and community harmony.
"We hope this event strengthens friendship, promotes da'wah spirit, and further enhances the role of women in building a strong and high-quality society," he stated. (IDNC)
