NIAS BARAT | INDATANEWS.COM – The faith-based youth movement in North Sumatra continues to show encouraging progress. During the Kommissariat Conference (Muskomcab), Filemo Daeli, S.H., M.H., was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Commissariat Branch (Komcab) of Catholic Youth in Nias Barat for the 2026–2029 term.
The forum, held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the parish hall of the Holy Cross Parish in Mandrehe, concluded with an acclamation after all participants agreed on a single candidate. The session was marked by a solemn yet family-like atmosphere.
The plenary session was chaired by Ambrin B.W. Simbolon, representing the Regional Commission of Catholic Youth North Sumatra. He also serves as acting chairman of the Pencak Silat extended family within Catholic Youth Nias Barat, reflecting a balance between spirituality and organizational discipline.

Dozens of young participants from various districts across Nias Barat joined enthusiastically, marking a crucial step in organizational regeneration.
Markus, OSC, parish priest of Holy Cross Mandrehe, delivered faith-building sessions and emphasized the strategic role of Catholic youth in responding to social changes.
Meanwhile, Yason Hulu, former chairman of the Komcab Catholic Youth Nias Barat, presented materials on organizational management, cadre consolidation, and the challenges facing youth movements today.

Formation of a New Leadership Team
Following
Filemo Daeli's election, the forum immediately established a formateur team tasked with structuring the new leadership for the 2026–2029 period.
The team consists of five elements: the elected chairman as team leader, a representative from the Regional Commission of North Sumatra, a representative of the outgoing board, a pastoral moderator, and a representative from the interim leadership.

A New Hope for Nias Barat
With his legal background,
Filemo Daeli is expected to bring a more structured, advocacy-driven, and progressive leadership approach. His leadership is anticipated to strengthen internal cohesion, expand networks, and enhance the tangible contributions of Catholic youth to regional development.
One participant expressed hope that the new leadership would "become a solid driving force that unites the aspirations of Catholic youth and delivers meaningful positive impacts for society in Nias Barat."
