LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Maintaining public safety and order (Kamtibmas) requires the active involvement of all sections of society and cannot be left solely to the police. Social responsibility, harmonious relationships and a willingness to report potential criminal activity are essential to creating a safe and peaceful neighbourhood.
This message was delivered by the Chief of
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., during his regular
Friday community visit (Jumat Keliling) to Amaliah Mosque in Simaninggir, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, on Friday, 30 October 2026.
On the occasion, the Police Chief urged residents to take an active role in maintaining security in their respective neighbourhoods. He emphasised that a peaceful and orderly community could only be achieved through a shared sense of responsibility. This included maintaining good communication between residents and the police.
The Friday visit also provided an opportunity to strengthen relations between the police and the community, listen to residents' concerns and build mutual trust through religious and social engagement.
AKBP Rosef Efendi was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Labuhanbatu Selatan Police, KOMPOL Moch. Guntur Pryantoko, S.H., M.H., along with several police officers.
Community Safety Begins with Shared Responsibility
In his address, AKBP Rosef Efendi reminded residents of the importance of maintaining harmonious relationships, strengthening social responsibility and remaining alert to issues that could threaten security in their neighbourhoods.
He said the community played a strategically important role in identifying potential threats to
public safety at an early stage and supporting the police in preventing them. Paying attention to developments in one's immediate surroundings could prevent minor problems from escalating into more serious security disturbances.
He explained that a harmonious relationship between the police and the public was one of the fundamental foundations of maintaining public safety. Through close cooperation, problems could be identified more quickly, while preventive measures and responses could be implemented more effectively.
The Police Chief also urged residents not to ignore suspicious activities or potential violations of the law. People should look out for one another, maintain good neighbourly relations and notify the relevant authorities whenever they noticed signs of possible security threats.
This approach also makes the community an important partner of the police in creating a safe living environment. Open communication enables residents to raise concerns directly rather than waiting until a situation becomes more serious.

Emergency Hotline 110 Provides Direct Access to Police Assistance
Alongside his appeal for harmonious community relations, AKBP Rosef Efendi emphasised the importance of promptly reporting suspected crimes and disturbances to
public safety.
He urged residents to contact the police immediately if they became victims of an incident, witnessed a crime or noticed suspicious circumstances. To make police assistance more accessible, residents can use the police Call Centre emergency hotline 110.
"If members of the public become victims of a crime or witness a criminal offence, they should report it immediately through the police Call Centre 110. Through this service, they can request police assistance so that every piece of information received can be dealt with promptly," the Police Chief said.
The service provides an important communication channel for members of the public who require police assistance. Through this reporting facility, residents can share information about incidents that require the attention and intervention of the authorities.
The Police Chief hopes residents will not hesitate to use the service. He stressed that the prompt transmission of information was a crucial factor in enabling the police to respond to various security concerns without delay.
At the same time, open communication must be built on mutual trust. Residents should share information responsibly, while the police must continuously improve the quality of their services to ensure that every report is handled in accordance with established procedures.

Friday Visits Strengthen Police-Community Relations
The
Friday community visits are not merely opportunities for personal engagement between police officers and residents. They are also part of the Indonesian National Police's (Polri) community-oriented approach to strengthening public trust.
Through their direct presence in local communities, police officers aim to encourage more open and direct communication with residents. Mosques, as important centres of religious and social life, provide an appropriate setting for delivering public safety messages while fostering a stronger sense of community.
This approach allows residents to speak directly with police officers. In addition to providing guidance on maintaining
public safety, such encounters can strengthen personal relationships between law enforcement personnel and the community.
For the police, maintaining close ties with residents is essential to gaining a better understanding of local conditions and identifying problems within the community at an early stage. For residents, meanwhile, open communication makes it easier to approach the authorities, raise concerns and seek assistance when security issues arise.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police reaffirmed their commitment to providing a community-oriented, transparent and responsive policing service. This commitment will be pursued through various initiatives aimed at improving public services, preventing security disturbances and strengthening cooperation with all sections of society.
The principles of doing good and acting swiftly, intelligently, consistently and sincerely form the foundation of the service and commitment demonstrated by Labuhanbatu Selatan police officers.
Through increasingly close cooperation between the police and the public, responsibility for maintaining
public safety should not rest solely with law enforcement agencies. Instead, it should become a shared commitment embedded in people's everyday lives.
In this way, a safe, peaceful and stable Labuhanbatu Selatan can be achieved through active public participation, open communication and a police service that remains consistently present within the community. (IDNC)
