Maulid as an Acehnese Tradition
The people of Aceh have a distinctive tradition of commemorating Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW. The commemorations are not limited to a single day but take place over an extended period and are organized by communities in various regions.
In Aceh, Maulid celebrations can continue for up to three months after the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the Islamic calendar. During this period, celebrations are held successively in different villages.
The tradition has been part of Acehnese social life since the era of the sultanates. To this day, the people continue to hold Maulid celebrations, which serve as both a religious tradition and an integral part of social life.
The rotation of Maulid celebrations among different communities also provides opportunities for residents to gather and maintain social ties. Such events generally bring together various groups, including ulama, community figures, government representatives, and residents from different segments of society.
Therefore, Maulid celebrations have not only a religious dimension but also a social function in strengthening relations among members of the community. Passed down through generations, the tradition remains part of Aceh's Islamic cultural heritage and continues to play a role in contemporary social life.

For the
Aceh Government, events such as Maulid celebrations also provide an opportunity to strengthen its connection with the community and the leaders of Islamic educational institutions.
