DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The Deli Serdang Regency Government, through the National Unity and Political Agency (Kesbangpol), facilitated mediation between parties involved in a dispute over the use of loudspeakers at Al-Muttaqin Mosque on Jalan Besar Lintas Sumatera, Tanjung Morawa A Village, Tanjung Morawa District. The incident, which had drawn public attention, ultimately ended with a peace agreement.
The Deli Serdang Kesbangpol held the mediation on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Deli Serdang Kesbangpol Office. The meeting was attended by Dedi Santoso, the marbot or nazir of Al-Muttaqin Mosque, and Susanto, the other party involved in the dispute.
The meeting also involved the Deli Serdang Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB), the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM), and other relevant agencies. The participation of various stakeholders was intended to help the parties find a mutually acceptable solution while maintaining stability and peace within the community.
Both Parties Agree to End the Dispute
During the mediation, Dedi Santoso and Susanto agreed to resolve the dispute amicably and through a family-oriented approach. Both parties chose to settle the matter through a peace agreement and agreed not to pursue the dispute through legal proceedings.
The agreement was subsequently documented in a joint peace declaration signed by both parties. The document also serves as a commitment to resolve the matter in a constructive manner while preserving social relations within the community.
In the peace declaration, Dedi Santoso stated that he forgave Susanto for the incident that occurred on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at around 1 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
Susanto, meanwhile, stated that he was willing not to repeat the incident. He also pledged to apologize to religious and community leaders in Dusun I, Tanjung Morawa A Village.
The agreement also contains a commitment by both parties not to make any further claims against each other, either civil or criminal. Through the agreement, both parties declared the dispute settled through mutual forgiveness.
The amicable settlement is an important step in maintaining social relations within the community. Issues involving religious activities, in particular, require an approach that prioritizes communication, mutual respect, and the preservation of peace in residential areas.

FKUB Calls for Respect for the Agreement
Chairman of the Deli Serdang FKUB, Khairul Anwar, said the mediation had resulted in a peace agreement between the two parties. He called on all parties involved to respect the outcome of the mediation and refrain from reopening an issue that had already been resolved.
"The matter has been settled through mediation. We hope all parties will respect the agreement reached and not continue the dispute," he said.
Khairul emphasized the importance of respecting the agreement jointly reached by both parties. In his view, mediation provides disputing parties with an opportunity to seek a solution together while taking the interests of all parties into consideration.
The peace agreement is also expected to help restore calm and harmony in community life. By not pursuing the matter further, residents can resume their daily activities without tensions arising from the previous dispute.
The FKUB's involvement in the process also strengthens efforts to promote open communication among different groups within society. The interfaith forum is part of broader efforts to create a social environment where mutual respect and religious harmony are maintained.
