DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - The commemoration of Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW 1448 H in Deli Serdang Regency was marked by a vibrant combination of religious activities and public services. The Deli Serdang Regency Government provided residents with a range of free services during the event on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Mangga Field in Marindal I Village, Patumbak District, allowing them to access the services directly at the venue.
Around a thousand people from various districts attended the commemoration. In addition to participating in the religious activities, residents had the opportunity to access various government services directly at the event venue.
This year's Maulid Nabi commemoration also reflected the Deli Serdang Government's commitment to bringing public services closer to residents. The services provided included free health screenings, the affordable food initiative Gerakan Pangan Murah (GPM), also known as Panglima Deli, population administration (Adminduk) services, Land and Building Tax (PBB) services, as well as the introduction of the Pelayanan Akses Kesehatan Kita Peduli (PAS KALI) healthcare access program.
Maulid Nabi as a Moment to Serve the Community
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan emphasized that the commemoration of Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW should not be limited to a ceremonial event. In his view, the community should follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW through concrete actions, particularly by showing concern for others and providing the best possible public services.
"Following the example of Prophet Muhammad SAW does not only mean commemorating his birth, but also showing concern, helping others and providing the best possible services. The government must be present to help ease the burdens faced by the people," he said.
Asri Ludin Tambunan explained that this spirit was one of the reasons the regional government chose to provide various services as part of the Maulid Nabi commemoration. Through this concept, residents could participate in the religious event while also handling various administrative matters and gaining access to healthcare services.
The
Deli Serdang Government hopes that the programs offered during the event will provide tangible benefits to residents. The services provided during the religious commemoration were also part of the government's efforts to narrow the gap between the community and public services.
"We hope that all of these programs will be implemented properly and continue to benefit the people of Deli Serdang," he said.
The wide range of services gave this year's Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW commemoration an added dimension. The government not only encouraged residents to strengthen their religious values but also sought to put the values of compassion and the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad SAW into practice through services whose benefits could be felt directly by the community.

Public Services at the Heart of the Celebration
The services provided by the government addressed a range of basic needs among residents. The free health screenings gave people an opportunity to check their health without having to visit a healthcare facility separately.
Meanwhile, the Gerakan Pangan Murah, or Panglima Deli, initiative enabled residents to purchase food at more affordable prices. The government also provided population administration (Adminduk) services for residents who needed to take care of administrative matters.
Services related to Land and Building Tax (PBB) were also included in the program. Residents could use the opportunity to obtain information or address matters related to their regional tax obligations. The Deli Serdang Government also introduced PAS KALI as part of its efforts to improve public access to healthcare services.
The provision of these services demonstrates the regional government's effort to combine religious events with community-oriented programs. By making the services available at a location that was easily accessible to residents, the government was able to introduce its programs while also receiving public concerns and needs directly.
Deli Serdang's First Assistant for Government Affairs and People's Welfare, Zainal Abidin Hutagalung, said in his report that the committee had deliberately designed this year's Maulid Nabi event to combine religious activities with public services.
According to him, the concept is in line with the
Deli Serdang Government's development agenda, which seeks to create a region that is healthy, intelligent, prosperous, religious and sustainable.

Following the Example of Prophet Muhammad SAW
In addition to the public services, the Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW commemoration also provided residents with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Prophet Muhammad SAW as an exemplary figure. The religious sermon during the event was delivered by Ustaz Abdil Muhadir Ritonga.
In his sermon, he called on residents to emulate the character and leadership qualities of Prophet Muhammad SAW and apply these values in their daily lives. These values formed an important part of the message of the Maulid Nabi commemoration, particularly in promoting compassion, solidarity and social responsibility within society.
The Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW 1448 H commemoration in Deli Serdang Regency therefore created more than a religious atmosphere. The event also became a meeting point between the government and the community, giving residents direct access to various public services.
The concept demonstrates that religious values and public services can go hand in hand. The example of Prophet Muhammad SAW promoted by the government was conveyed not only through the commemoration itself but also through concrete efforts to provide direct benefits to the community.
By combining religious sermons, religious activities and various free public services, the Deli Serdang Government seeks to make the Maulid Nabi commemoration a moment to strengthen its relationship with the community while ensuring that the government's presence can be felt in people's daily lives.
