BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM - Acting Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government Taufik attended the Maulid Nabi Muhammad SAW 1448 H commemoration at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Banda Aceh on Monday evening, August 24, 2026. The event was held after the congregational Isha prayer and carried the theme, "Following the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad SAW to realize an Islamic, virtuous and united society in Aceh."
The Maulid Nabi celebration began at around 8:15 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB). A number of government officials and regional leadership representatives were also in attendance, including Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Ruddi Setiawan, Commander of Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base Colonel Pnb Suryo Anggoro, Aceh Besar Regent Muharram Idris, Speaker of the Banda Aceh City Council Irwansyah, representatives of the Aceh Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda Aceh), representatives of the Banda Aceh Forkopimda, and other government officials.
On the occasion, Taufik delivered the address of Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf. In his message, the governor called on the people of Aceh to use the Maulid Nabi commemoration as an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of and love for Prophet Muhammad SAW, while also following his exemplary character in everyday life.
Maulid as a Moment to Follow the Prophet's Example
The Governor of Aceh said the Maulid Nabi celebration should not merely serve as a commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Rather, the occasion should encourage Muslims to know the Prophet more deeply, strengthen their love for him, and put the noble character he taught into practice in their daily lives.
According to the governor, love for Prophet Muhammad SAW should not be limited to frequently mentioning his name. Instead, such love must be reflected in a person's conduct and character in everyday life.
Prophet Muhammad SAW provided an example in many aspects of life, from honesty, patience, compassion and justice to a sense of responsibility and respectful interaction with others. In the governor's view, these values remain relevant today as Aceh's people face various challenges.
The governor said this year's Maulid Nabi theme was closely connected to the current situation in Aceh. Regional development, he explained, must go hand in hand with Islamic values. Progress, therefore, should not focus solely on physical and economic development but must also strengthen the character of the people.
He stressed that social progress must be built on honesty and justice. At the same time, the people must strengthen unity, which is an essential foundation for Aceh's continued development.
Prophet Muhammad SAW, the governor continued, had demonstrated how a strong society could be built. He did not deepen differences but instead strengthened brotherhood and promoted shared life based on humanity and justice.
"Islam as mercy, exemplary character and unity as strength," Taufik said while delivering the governor's address.

Aceh Government Strengthens an Islamic-Based Society
The Governor of Aceh also reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to building an Islamic-based society with strong moral character. At the same time, the government would continue promoting responsible governance focused on the needs of the people.
These efforts cannot be carried out by the government alone. The governor therefore called on Islamic scholars, educators, community leaders, young people, parents and all segments of society to contribute to developing the character of the younger generation and strengthening social life based on Islamic values.
The involvement of various elements of society is essential because character development cannot be achieved in a short period. Families, educational institutions, communities and the government have interconnected responsibilities in shaping a society that upholds ethical values and brotherhood.
Through the Maulid Nabi celebration, the Aceh Government also called on the people to make the teachings and example of Prophet Muhammad SAW an integral part of their daily lives. Honesty, responsibility, compassion, justice, patience and respect for others must be reflected both in social life and in governance.
The message also emphasizes that Aceh's development should not be focused solely on material progress. The government wants economic and regional development to go hand in hand with stronger morality, religious life, unity and social responsibility.
Strengthening Brotherhood and Unity in Aceh
The governor expressed hope that the people would not view the Maulid Nabi celebration merely as an annual event or ceremonial occasion. Instead, the celebration should serve as a starting point for everyone to pause, reflect and improve their character.
The people should also use the Maulid as an opportunity to strengthen Islamic brotherhood (Ukhuwah Islamiah) and preserve Aceh's unity. According to the governor, brotherhood is an important source of strength in overcoming various challenges and jointly shaping the region's future.
The message of unity is particularly significant given Aceh's social diversity. Differences in views and backgrounds should not weaken the shared commitment to advancing the region.
The Aceh Government hopes that all elements of society will maintain peaceful coexistence and promote mutual respect. In this way, the values taught by Prophet Muhammad SAW can be put into practice in the daily lives of the people.
"May the example of Prophet Muhammad SAW lead Aceh toward becoming a peaceful, united, progressive and prosperous region," the address concluded.
In addition to the address delivered by Acting Secretary of the Aceh Provincial Government Taufik on behalf of Governor Muzakir Manaf, the Maulid Nabi celebration at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque also featured a welcome for the Grand Imam of the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Aceh, Abu Paya Pasie.
This was followed by a religious sermon and prayer delivered and led by Tgk. Misran Fuadi. The presence of Islamic scholars, regional officials and members of the public underscored the message that Maulid Nabi is a shared occasion to strengthen the practice of Prophet Muhammad SAW's example in everyday life.
The Maulid Nabi celebration commemorating Prophet Muhammad SAW in 1448 H at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque was therefore not merely an occasion to remember the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The event also reminded the people of Aceh of the importance of strengthening character and morality, preserving brotherhood, promoting unity and living according to Islamic values.

Aceh Government hopes that the people can work together to realize an Islamic-based, virtuous, peaceful, united, progressive and prosperous Aceh.
