MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - KOSGORO 1957 (Kesatuan Organisasi Serbaguna Gotong Royong) North Sumatra reaffirmed its commitment to advancing public welfare through economic empowerment and organizational strengthening during its first executive board meeting for the 2026–2031 term.
The meeting, held in Medan on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, began with the reading of the official decree from the KOSGORO Central Executive Board regarding the composition of the newly appointed provincial leadership. The organization also outlined its strategic priorities for the next five years.
Strengthening the People's Economy
Chairman of the Provincial Deliberation Council (PDK) of KOSGORO 1957 North Sumatra,
Viktor Silaen, emphasized that strengthening the people's economy will remain one of the organization's primary programs throughout the new leadership period.
According to him, the spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity that has defined KOSGORO since its establishment must be translated into tangible programs that directly benefit communities.
"As one of the founding organizations of the
Golkar Party and an organization that has long maintained close ties with Golkar, strengthening the people's economy is one of our main priorities. The essence and spirit of KOSGORO are mutual assistance and solidarity,"
Viktor Silaen said.
He delivered the statement alongside Acting Chairman Arifin Said Ritonga, Secretary Boy Rangkuti, and Treasurer Datuq Adil Haberham.
Legal Aid and Digitalization InitiativesIn addition to economic empowerment, KOSGORO North Sumatra is preparing to establish several institutions aimed at expanding public services and support.
One of the key initiatives is the formation of the
KOSGORO North Sumatra Legal Aid Institute (LBH KOSGORO Sumut), which is expected to provide legal assistance and advocacy services for communities in need.
The organization is also working on establishing a Digitalization Agency to help address the challenges of rapid technological transformation while improving services and outreach to the public.
Viktor Silaen expressed confidence that both institutions would broaden KOSGORO's contribution to society and strengthen its role in supporting communities across various sectors.
Organizational Consolidation Ahead of 2029 Elections
During the meeting,
Viktor Silaen also highlighted the importance of organizational consolidation throughout North Sumatra as part of preparations for future national political processes, including the 2029 legislative and presidential elections.
At the same time, preparations are underway for the official inauguration of the 2026–2031 provincial executive board. The organization has already appointed the chairman, secretary, and treasurer of the inauguration committee, who are now tasked with completing the committee's organizational structure.
