DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – The second wave of the 2026 simultaneous village head elections (Pilkades) across Deli Serdang Regency proceeded smoothly and orderly on Tuesday (June 2, 2026), with a strong voter turnout reflecting growing public participation in local democracy.
Residents in participating villages enthusiastically exercised their voting rights, contributing to a peaceful and democratic electoral process.
Deputy Regent of Deli Serdang, Lom Lom Suwondo, directly monitored the implementation of the elections at several polling stations. His inspection covered Dalu XA and Lengau Seprang villages in Tanjung Morawa District, Tanjung Gusta Village in Sunggal District, and Tandem Hulu I Village in Hamparan Perak District.
High Public Participation Highlights Democratic Awareness
During his visit, Lom Lom Suwondo praised the significant voter turnout, describing it as evidence of increasing political awareness and civic responsibility among residents at the village level.
"We hope that voters place their trust in candidates they genuinely believe can lead their villages effectively. The government has ensured that all systems and mechanisms are functioning properly so that every vote is counted and respected," he said.
He emphasized that the village head election should serve as a healthy democratic platform where residents can freely choose their leaders according to their conscience.

Expectations for Inclusive Village Leadership
The Deputy Regent also expressed hope that the elected village heads would truly represent the aspirations of the people and serve all residents without discrimination.
"Our expectation is that the elected village heads will gain the trust and support of the community. When election results genuinely reflect the people's voice, the elected leaders will be able to serve and support all residents equally," Lom Lom Suwondo stated.
He stressed that future village heads should act as inclusive leaders capable of uniting communities regardless of political preferences or social backgrounds.

Authorities Urge Public to Maintain Security and Stability
Lom Lom Suwondo also called on residents to maintain peace and order throughout the election process, including vote counting.
The Deli Serdang Regency Government has been working closely with the Sub-district Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), election committees, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of all election stages.
"Do not be provoked or influenced by information that could disrupt this democratic process," he urged.
As of the time of reporting, all stages of the second wave of the 2026 Pilkades in participating villages had been conducted safely and without incident.
"Conditions remain stable and orderly. We hope this situation continues until the completion of vote counting," he added.
In addition to overseeing the election process, the Deli Serdang Regency Government also provided free health check-up services at every polling station. The initiative aims to bring healthcare services closer to residents while supporting the successful implementation of the elections. (IDNC)
