LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The race for the chairmanship of the Golkar Party's Regional Executive Board (DPD) in Labuhanbatu Selatan for the 2025–2030 term is gaining momentum ahead of the party's Fourth Regional Conference (Musda IV). Two names have emerged as key figures in the contest: Guntur M. Siagian, a member of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), and H. Muhammad Romadon Nasution, S.H., deputy speaker of the regional legislature and the incumbent chairman of the Golkar Regional Executive Board.
The organizing committee for Golkar's Fourth Regional Conference in Labuhanbatu Selatan officially opened the nomination and registration process for prospective candidates on Friday, October 9, 2026. The process is being conducted at the Golkar Party office on Jalan Lintas Sumatera (Jalinsum) in Simaninggir, Kotapinang.
Guntur has already collected the nomination form, marking his first concrete step toward competing for leadership of the party, which uses the banyan tree as its symbol. Meanwhile,
Muhammad Romadon Nasution remains the incumbent chairman. His term is approaching its end, and the current leadership is preparing for the transition to the next leadership period.
Both politicians belong to the Golkar faction in the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regional House of Representatives. With the two figures emerging prominently ahead of the conference, attention is increasingly focused on internal party developments and the upcoming decision on who will lead the organization over the next five years.
However, the contest cannot yet be assessed conclusively based solely on the names that have emerged at this early stage. Each prospective candidate must meet the organizational requirements, submit complete nomination documents, and demonstrate support from eligible voting representatives in accordance with the conference regulations.
Registration Open Until October 11, 2026
The organizing committee for Golkar's Fourth Regional Conference in Labuhanbatu Selatan is chaired by Drs. H. Kasmin Jamrin Ritonga. As part of the nomination process, the Steering Committee (SC), coordinated by H. Saiman Siregar, is responsible for overseeing candidacies and verifying the submitted documents. The Organizing Committee (OC) is supported, among others, by Anas Efendi Harahap.
At a press conference, SC representatives explained that registration for prospective candidates would remain open for three days, from Friday, October 9, through Sunday, October 11, 2026. Verification of nomination documents is scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
These procedural stages are essential to ensure that all candidates meet the requirements before the conference begins. Through administrative verification, the committee can check whether the documents are complete and determine whether applicants have complied with the nomination procedures established by the Golkar Party.
The Fourth Regional Conference is scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Convention Hall Blok Songo auditorium in Sisumut Village, Kotapinang Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), while the main sessions are expected to begin after the midday prayer. The organizing committee aims to complete all agenda items on the same day.
With only a short interval between the registration deadline, document verification, and the start of the conference, all prospective candidates must ensure that they meet every requirement within the established deadlines. The schedule also gives the organizing committee an opportunity to prepare the event carefully and ensure that proceedings run smoothly in accordance with the party constitution and applicable procedural rules.

Candidates Must Secure at Least 30 Percent of the Votes
In addition to meeting administrative requirements, each prospective candidate must demonstrate support from at least 30 percent of all eligible voting participants. This threshold is one of the key conditions candidates must satisfy before they can formally compete for the chairmanship of the Golkar Regional Executive Board in Labuhanbatu Selatan.
According to the rules outlined by the organizing committee, the voting allocation consists of five votes for subdistrict-level executive boards (PK), two votes for the party's founders and organizations established by them, one vote for the incumbent Regional Executive Board chairman, one vote for affiliated organizations, and one vote for the Golkar Provincial Executive Board of North Sumatra.
This composition highlights the importance of communication and coordination among the party's various organizational levels. Candidates must not only prepare complete nomination documents but also secure the required support in accordance with the applicable rules.
The 30 percent minimum support threshold represents a significant hurdle that every prospective candidate must clear to advance through the selection process. As a result, the registration and verification stages are particularly important for candidates seeking to establish their formal eligibility while strengthening discussions with organizations and representatives entitled to vote.
However, meeting the support requirement during the preliminary selection process does not automatically guarantee victory. The final outcome will still depend on the proceedings, the applicable procedural rules, and the voting mechanism adopted at the Fourth Regional Conference.
The process also serves as an initial test of the candidates' readiness. They must demonstrate their organizational preparedness and ability to build viable alliances within the party. Securing the required support is one of the conditions for remaining competitive in the subsequent stages of the leadership election.

Musda IV to Determine Golkar's Future Leadership
The Fourth Regional Conference is not merely an occasion to elect a new chairman. It also provides Golkar in Labuhanbatu Selatan with an opportunity to strengthen internal cohesion and evaluate the organization's development to date. The leadership for the 2025–2030 term will play an important role in setting the party's programmatic direction, strengthening organizational structures down to the subdistrict level, and developing political strategies to address challenges over the coming years.
In the context of regional politics, a change in party leadership can also influence cooperation among members and shape how the organization responds to public concerns and expectations. Consequently, the conference is being watched not only by party officials and members but also by residents interested in political developments in Labuhanbatu Selatan.
By collecting the nomination form,
Guntur M. Siagian has already taken a concrete first step toward entering the race.
Muhammad Romadon Nasution, meanwhile, approaches the upcoming conference as the incumbent chairman of the Golkar Regional Executive Board and deputy speaker of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Regional House of Representatives.
Both figures have therefore shaped the contest's emerging dynamics ahead of the Fourth Regional Conference. However, the balance of support could still change depending on the progress of registration, the results of the administrative verification process, and the candidates' ability to demonstrate the required backing from eligible voting representatives.
The organizing committee plans to complete all conference agenda items on Monday, October 12, 2026. The event is expected to produce a leadership team capable of maintaining unity among party members, improving coordination within the organization, and setting strategic priorities for the region's political development.
For Golkar in Labuhanbatu Selatan, the conference's success will not be measured solely by who wins the chairmanship. Equally important is whether all participants preserve party unity and respect the organizational procedures. Strong internal cohesion provides an important foundation for the party to fulfill its political role effectively and remain responsive to the concerns of the public.
With the nomination process beginning on October 9, 2026, attention is now turning to the fulfillment of candidacy requirements and the next stages leading up to the Fourth Regional Conference. Whoever ultimately receives the mandate to lead the party will be expected to strengthen the organization, foster unity among its members, and prepare Golkar in Labuhanbatu Selatan to meet the political challenges of the next five years.
