JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Consulate General of India in Medan marked the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day in Jambi with an official ceremony held at the Swiss Ballroom of Swiss-Belhotel Jambi on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Government officials, academics, members of Indian friendship circles, and the Indian diaspora gathered to reaffirm their commitment to deepening collaboration between India and Indonesia.
Prominent attendees included the Mayor of Jambi, Dr. dr. H. Maulana, accompanied by his wife Dr. dr. Hj. Nadiyah Maulana, Deputy Mayor Diza Hazra Aljosha, Fery Kusnadi representing the Governor of Jambi, Deputy Regent of Muaro Jambi Junaidi Mahir, Chairperson of GOW Jambi Marsha Lystia, heads of city offices, media representatives, and members of the Indian community, highlighting active multi-sector engagement in strengthening bilateral ties.

The ITEC Day highlighted the participation of 26 Jambi officials who completed professional training programs in India. Fully funded by the Indian government, the ITEC scholarship program covers areas such as governance, public administration, information technology, health, and sustainable development.

Among the participants, 25 Jambi city officials, led by the Mayor, attended the ITEC specialized training on Digital Health-IDN in Mohali, Punjab, India. One additional official completed a course in Quantum Computing and Information Science at the same location, reflecting growing interest in Indian expertise aligned with Indonesia's regional development priorities.

The event featured numerous testimonials, including from Mayor Dr. dr. H. Maulana, M.K.M., who emphasized the importance of international collaboration and professional skill development.
Other speakers, including Dr. dr. Hj. Nadiyah Maulana, Sp.OGh, Mariani Yanti, Ph.D. (Head of Tourism and Culture Department), dr. Anastasia Yekti Heningnurani, M.A.R.S. (Director of RS Abdul Manap), Edriansyah, S.H., M.M. (Secretary of Jambi Social Office), and RM Agung Dian Perdana, S.Kom. (Tourism Department), shared their enriching experiences from ITEC training at CDAC Mohali, Chandigarh, Punjab, India.

They highlighted the academic and professional benefits, India's cultural diversity, innovation ecosystem, and best practices that could be applied in Indonesia, particularly in the health sector.
Consul General of India in Medan, Mr. Ravi Shanker Goel, thanked participants, underscored the growing partnership with Jambi, and presented additional scholarships and training opportunities offered by the Indian government, including ITEC programs and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarships. He emphasized India's long-term commitment to supporting capacity-building initiatives and its willingness to expand cooperation with Jambi.
The ITEC Day celebrations reinforced existing collaborations and provided a platform to explore new partnerships in education, skills development, and institutional exchanges, concluding with renewed enthusiasm to strengthen India-Indonesia friendship and highlight the role of ITEC and ICCR in deepening bilateral relations.
