DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM - Deli Serdang Regent dr. H. Asri Ludin Tambunan, accompanied by Deputy Regent Lom Lom Suwondo SS, carried out a chili harvest on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Payabakung Village, Hamparan Perak District. The harvest marked the 17th harvest season achieved by local farmers.
The harvest, conducted on an agricultural area covering approximately five rante, represents a sign of the continued sustainability of community farming activities while also highlighting the productivity of farmers in the region. The Deli Serdang Regency Government continues to strengthen its support for the agricultural sector by providing production facilities, improving irrigation systems, and offering direct assistance and guidance to farmers in the field.
The harvest event was also used as an opportunity to ensure that farmers' various needs continue to receive attention, particularly regarding fertilizer availability, the distribution of subsidized fertilizers, and technical support to increase agricultural production.
Promoting Sustainable Agricultural Productivity
Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan stated that maintaining continuous agricultural production requires consistent support and cooperation from various parties. The government, he said, must ensure that farmers have access to adequate production facilities so agricultural activities can be carried out optimally.
"The most important thing is that we continue to move forward. Existing challenges must be resolved together," he said.
Asri Ludin emphasized that problems in the agricultural sector cannot be addressed partially or separately. The government, farmers, and all related stakeholders must continue working together to overcome various challenges in agriculture.
In addition to ensuring production support, the Regent also highlighted the importance of monitoring the distribution of
subsidized fertilizers. He urged all fertilizer retailers to comply with applicable regulations and not sell
subsidized fertilizers above the government-determined Highest Retail Price (HET).
According to him, subsidized fertilizers must truly reach farmers who need them and be available at prices in accordance with government regulations. Monitoring the distribution process is an important step in ensuring the sustainability of agricultural production in Deli Serdang.

RDKK Becomes Key to Subsidized Fertilizer Distribution
On the occasion, the Regent also appealed to agricultural extension officers (Penyuluh Pertanian Lapangan/PPL) to intensify assistance for farmers and encourage them to be included in the Group Needs Definitive Plan (Rencana Definitif Kebutuhan Kelompok/RDKK).
Asri Ludin explained that data collection through the RDKK system serves as an important foundation to ensure farmers' fertilizer requirements are properly documented. Through this system, eligible farmers can receive subsidized fertilizers according to their needs and at prices determined by the government.
"RDKK is the key. Everyone registered in the RDKK must receive fertilizer according to the HET. It must not exceed that price," he stressed.
To strengthen support at the farmer level, the government has added additional independent agricultural extension officers (PPL Swadaya). These additional personnel are expected to assist the government in providing training, agricultural counseling, and monitoring agricultural programs in villages.
Asri Ludin reaffirmed that the government will continue ensuring that all challenges related to agricultural production — from fertilizer availability and irrigation systems to farmer assistance — receive serious attention.

Payabakung Farmers Feel Government Support
Payabakung Village Head Pariono appreciated the support provided by the government, from the central level to the regency administration, which he said has had a positive impact on farmers.
According to him, farmers in
Payabakung Village have benefited from various programs and increasing government attention toward the agricultural sector. Currently, the area has a significant rice cultivation area with a total coverage of approximately 595 hectares.
"Alhamdulillah, farmers can clearly feel the support from the central government to the regency government, giving them renewed hope and confidence today," he said.
Pariono added that the village government, together with relevant regional authorities, continues to monitor the distribution of
subsidized fertilizers to ensure they reach the intended recipients. Coordination is also carried out with Babinsa (village military officers) to ensure proper supervision.
He expressed hope that government support for the agricultural sector will continue so farmers can further improve their productivity and welfare.
