BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM – The Barelang Police have dismantled a large-scale drug trafficking network through a special narcotics operation conducted during the 2026 Eid al-Adha holiday period. The operation took place from May 25 to May 31, 2026, and the results were officially presented on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Batam Police Headquarters during a press conference.

Barelang Police Chief Kombes Pol Anggoro Wicaksono, accompanied by senior officers from the narcotics and security divisions.
Police confirmed that a total of eight case reports were processed during the operation, resulting in the arrest of 12 suspects—nine men and three women.
Authorities emphasized that despite the holiday period, anti-narcotics units remained fully active in the field. The operation reflects the police's firm commitment to protecting Batam from illicit drug trafficking activities.

Large Quantities of Drugs and Etomidate-Laced Vapes Seized
Head of the Narcotics Unit, Kompol Dr. Arsyad Riyandi, detailed the seized evidence during the briefing. Among the confiscated items were:
15.32 grams of methamphetamine (shabu)2,038.52 grams of cannabis (marijuana)327 ecstasy tablets of various brands2,672 e-cigarettes (vapes) containing etomidate
According to investigators, the substances were allegedly intended for distribution through a coordinated network taking advantage of increased mobility during the holiday season.
Two Major Cases Highlighted in Investigation
Police highlighted two major cases within the operation.
The first involved the trafficking of etomidate-laced vapes, in which two suspects identified by the initials AL and IKS were arrested on May 30, 2026. Authorities also seized hundreds of vape units along with ecstasy pills and methamphetamine.
The second case involved nearly 2 kilograms of cannabis discovered inside a commercial building (ruko) in Batam Kota. Police used a controlled delivery method to trace the distribution network, leading to the arrest of two additional suspects identified as AS and IK.
Police Vow Zero Tolerance on Drug Crime
Authorities stressed that there will be no pause in the fight against drug crime, even during major religious holidays. The Eid al-Adha period, they said, symbolizes sacrifice and is also a reminder of the duty to protect society from the dangers of drugs.
"There is no room for drug crime within our jurisdiction," the police chief stated firmly.
The public is also urged to report any suspicious activity. The police emergency hotline 110 remains available 24/7.
