LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM – The Torgamba Police Sector (Polsek Torgamba), in coordination with the security team of PT Asam Jawa, has uncovered two separate cases of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) theft at the company's oil palm plantation in Pangarungan Village, Torgamba District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The incidents occurred within days of each other.
The swift resolution highlights the police's firm stance against plantation-related theft, which continues to threaten corporate assets and regional security stability.
Firm Action Against Plantation Crime
Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga ordered the Criminal Investigation Unit (Unit Reskrim), led by Iptu Rajo Irawan Hamonangan, to immediately investigate the cases. A total of three suspects have been arrested from the two incidents.
According to authorities, the suspects were caught following coordinated patrols and field surveillance conducted jointly by police officers and the plantation security team.

Coordinated Patrol Uncovers "Palm Oil Thieves"The first incident occurred on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at around 6:30 p.m. in Division D, Block D-3 of PT Asam Jawa's plantation area. During a routine patrol near the community border area, officers heard suspicious motorcycle noises coming from within the plantation.
Shortly after, the team observed unusual activity involving the movement of harvested palm fruit bunches from a drainage area onto private land. Two additional individuals later arrived on a motorcycle, allegedly to transport the stolen goods.
The suspects were intercepted while carrying the stolen items approximately 50 meters from the location and were arrested without resistance. They were identified as MSS alias Sidik (27) and S alias Wawan Black (32).

Evidence Seized, Three Suspects ApprehendedPolice recovered 22 bunches of fresh palm fruit as evidence. Officers also confiscated two unregistered Honda Supra 125 motorcycles, a harvesting hook (gancu), and a machete (arit). The estimated loss for PT Asam Jawa in this case is around IDR 516,600.
Second Case: One Arrested, Accomplice on the Run
The second case was discovered on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 08:15 a.m. in Division D, Block D-34 of the same plantation. Officers arrested a 23-year-old suspect identified by the initials YK from Sidorejo Village, Pangarungan.
During the search, police found 61 bunches of palm fruit, a Yamaha Jupiter motorcycle without a license plate, and a machete. The suspect admitted to stealing the fruit from
PT Asam Jawa and stated that he acted with an accomplice known as Boleng, who remains at large.
The estimated loss in this incident is approximately IDR 1 million.
Investigation Expands to Alleged Fencing NetworkAuthorities are continuing their investigation to uncover a possible fencing or resale network behind the stolen palm fruit trade. Police are conducting witness interviews and crime scene analysis while coordinating closely with PT Asam Jawa to trace the supply chain of the stolen goods.
Patrols to Be Intensified
AKP Sunipan Gurusinga emphasized that patrols and law enforcement efforts in the area will be intensified to prevent further incidents.
"The Torgamba Police will continue to take firm action against palm oil theft and dismantle any related networks. We also urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately," he stated.
