BANDA ACEH | INDATANEWS.COM – The Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Wilayatul Hisbah (WH) of Banda Aceh conducted a late-night raid on Monday, May 25, 2026, at around 01:00 a.m., targeting an abandoned shop building on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Gampong Penayong. The property, formerly used as a kerosene distribution outlet, was suspected of being used as a covert location for prostitution activities.
The operation was led by Satpol PP and
WH Banda Aceh chief Muhammad Rizal, along with secretary Evendi. The enforcement action drew public attention, as officers were initially seen entering the building in plain clothes before being followed by uniformed personnel.
A local resident, who requested anonymity, said unusual activity had been observed around the building for some time.
"We were surprised. Suddenly, several well-built men in plain clothes entered from the back of the building, followed by uniformed officers," the witness said.
Another resident noted that the location had long raised suspicions. "I often saw young women sitting there late into the night, accompanied by an older woman. They frequently entered through the back door," the resident explained, although they could not confirm what activities occurred inside.
No Evidence of Illegal Activity FoundSatpol PP and WH Banda Aceh secretary Evendi confirmed the raid but stated that no clear evidence of any criminal activity was discovered during the inspection.
"We inspected the vacant shop house across from Hotel Wisata, but found nothing suspicious upon arrival," Evendi said.
He added that the possibility of information leakage could not be ruled out, as enforcement actions are typically based on community complaints. Despite the findings, monitoring will continue in the area.
"We will continue to monitor the location to prevent any violations of Islamic Sharia regulations and maintain public order," he stated.
Patrols to Be Intensified Across the City
Evendi further emphasized that patrols in Banda Aceh will be strengthened as part of efforts to enforce Sharia law and maintain public order, in line with directives from the mayor to ensure a safe, religious, and orderly city environment.
He also urged residents to report any suspicious activities directly to authorities or through official social media channels.
"Every report will be taken seriously and investigated," Evendi said.
