Random Screening and Urine Testing

During the raid, officers conducted body and luggage searches on visitors present at the venue. In addition, 19 individuals—comprising 15 men and 4 women—were randomly selected for urine testing and further medical examination.

Head of Sub-Directorate I of the North Sumatra Police Narcotics Unit, AKBP Thommy Aruan, stated that the selection process was conducted randomly as part of standard operational procedures.

New Approach to Detect Vape Misuse

Authorities also placed special emphasis on monitoring electronic cigarette (vape) use during the operation. Police introduced a saliva-based testing method to detect possible traces of etomidate in vape products, marking a new preventive step in identifying the misuse of hazardous substances in e-cigarettes.

However, all 19 individuals tested returned negative results, with no evidence of narcotics use detected.

"All 19 individuals tested negative for narcotics," AKBP Thommy Aruan confirmed.

Public Urged to Remain Vigilant

Polda Sumut has pledged to continue conducting regular inspections of nightlife venues as part of its ongoing anti-drug campaign. The police also urged the public, particularly young people, to stay away from drugs and illegal substances.

"We call on the public, especially nightclub visitors, to avoid any form of drug abuse. Together, we aim to create a safe, healthy, and drug-free environment in North Sumatra," Aruan added. (IDNC)
