LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM – The Sungai Kanan Police Sector under the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police has stepped up its enforcement efforts to curb rising criminal activities in the region. The main focus includes the theft of fresh palm oil fruit (TBS) by so-called "Ninja Sawit", drug-related offenses, and the growing threat of online gambling, which has increasingly impacted local communities.
The Head of
Sungai Kanan Police Sector, Iptu Apri Sudiarno Damanik, conducted direct field visits and coordinated meetings in several villages and communities within
Sungai Kanan District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency.
During these visits, residents voiced concerns over increasing cases of palm oil theft, drug abuse, and the social as well as economic consequences of online gambling activities.

"We will take decisive action not only against the thieves operating in plantations but also against those who purchase stolen palm oil," he stated on Monday, May 11, 2026, via WhatsApp.
He also stressed that palm oil theft not only causes economic losses but may also trigger social conflicts within the community.

Strengthening Community-Based Prevention EffortsTo enhance security, the Sungai Kanan Police are increasing their presence in villages and urging residents to promptly report any suspicious activities. The "Jumat Curhat" (Friday Dialogue) program is also actively utilized as a direct communication platform between police officers and the public.

Focus on Drugs and Online Gambling Prevention
Beyond
palm oil theft, authorities are also prioritizing the fight against drug abuse and
online gambling, both of which are considered serious threats to youth in rural areas.
The approach combines law enforcement actions with public awareness campaigns aimed at educating communities about the dangers of these issues.
