DELI SERDANG | INDATANEWS.COM – The Government of Deli Serdang has reaffirmed its strong commitment to combating drug trafficking following the dismantling of a Malaysia–Aceh–Medan smuggling network and the destruction of nearly 2 kilograms of methamphetamine evidence.
The destruction of 1,992.34 grams of
methamphetamine (locally known as sabu) was carried out at the
Deli Serdang National Narcotics Agency (BNN) office in Lubuk Pakam on Friday, May 8, 2026.

"The police previously reported the seizure of 53 kilograms of narcotics, and today the Deli Serdang BNN has uncovered another significant case. We deeply appreciate these efforts and will continue to provide support within our capacity," he stated.
He emphasized that the fight against
drugs is a shared responsibility involving all elements of society, as its impact directly affects communities.

International Smuggling Network ExposedAuthorities arrested a 39-year-old suspect identified by the initials SA from Lhokseumawe, Aceh, believed to be part of a transnational Malaysia–Aceh–Medan syndicate operating through Kualanamu International Airport.

Deli Serdang BNN Chief Kombes Pol Josua Tampubolon, the
methamphetamine was concealed on the suspect's body, specifically strapped to his thighs. The suspect reportedly traveled by bus from Aceh to Medan before planning to fly onward to Kendari.
Officials also seized two mobile phones, cash in multiple currencies, bank cards, a boarding pass, and several other suspicious items linked to the case.

The Deli Serdang BNN also expressed gratitude for the regional government's support, including the establishment of an integrated P4GN team for drug prevention efforts. Various community organizations, including the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), have been actively involved in prevention programs.
The seized narcotics were ultimately destroyed in an incinerator. The event was attended by members of the
Deli Serdang Regional Leadership Forum (Forkopimda), including representatives from the Lubuk Pakam District Court, police, military, prosecutor's office, local parliament, as well as religious and community institutions.
