Jambi Police Destroy Drug Evidence, Protect 35,000 Residents

JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - The Jambi City Police (Polresta Jambi) destroyed evidence from multiple drug-related cases on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Narcotics Unit (Satnarkoba) building. The destroyed evidence included methamphetamine (sabu), ecstasy, cannabis, and etomidate as part of a firm and ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the city.

The destruction process was directly led by Polresta Jambi Chief, Kombes Pol Boy Sutan Binanga Siregar SIK MH. The event was attended by several key officials, including the Head of Detention and Custody Unit (Kasat Tahti) Kompol Azwardi SE, internal oversight officers (Propam), Head of Narcotics Unit AKP Tito Al Hafezt, and other Satnarkoba personnel.

To ensure transparency, the operation was also witnessed by external institutions such as the Jambi District Court, the Jambi Prosecutor's Office, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), the Jambi City Trade and Industry Office, and media representatives.

Over Two Kilograms of Drugs Eliminated

The destroyed evidence included 2,264.62 grams of methamphetamine, 2,115.32 grams of ecstasy (equivalent to 5,242 pills), 11.15 grams of cannabis, and 17 ampoules of etomidate totaling 9.6 milliliters.

Kombes Boy Sutan Binanga Siregar praised the performance of the Narcotics Unit and reaffirmed the police's strong commitment to combating drug crimes in Jambi.

"I highly appreciate the outstanding work of Satnarkoba Polresta Jambi. This reflects strong investigative efforts and our firm commitment to eradicating drug crimes in Jambi," he stated.

38 Suspects Arrested in 24 Drug Cases

In 2026, Polresta Jambi handled 24 drug-related police reports, leading to the arrest of 38 suspects. These enforcement efforts are estimated to have protected around 35,000 people from the dangers of drug abuse.

Authorities also called on the public to actively support law enforcement in the fight against drug trafficking.

"We invite all elements of society to support the police in combating drugs," Kombes Boy added.

The destruction process was carried out by dissolving the narcotics in boiling water before being buried, ensuring the evidence could not be reused. The entire procedure was conducted openly under strict supervision from all relevant agencies. (IDNC)
