LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM – The Kampung Rakyat Police dismantled a makeshift hut on Monday afternoon, May 4, 2026, in Dusun Air Serdang, Air Merah Village, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The structure was allegedly used as a gathering site for methamphetamine ("shabu") consumption.
The enforcement action was led directly by
Kampung Rakyat Police Chief AKP Muhammad Ilham Lubis as part of the "Gerebek Sarang Narkoba" (GSN) initiative under the Routine Activity Enhancement program (KRYD). The operation involved village officials and local residents, targeting a remote palm oil plantation area previously reported by the public as a suspected drug hotspot.

No individuals or physical evidence were found during the operation. Authorities believe that a suspect identified by the initials AB had fled the location before the raid took place.
During the sweep, officers discovered a rudimentary hut allegedly used repeatedly for drug consumption and possible distribution activities. The structure was immediately dismantled on site to prevent further use.

"This operation is not merely a raid, but a firm warning that we will continue to restrict space for drug-related crimes in this region," said AKP Ilham.

He stressed that community reports remain a crucial element in law enforcement efforts.
"Every piece of information from the public is an early warning for us to take action," he said, adding that prevention remains a top priority even without arrests.
Police also conducted public awareness efforts, educating residents on the dangers of drug abuse and encouraging them to report suspicious activity through the emergency hotline 110 or the nearest police station.

As a result, patrols and enforcement operations under the National Drug Prevention and Eradication Program (P4GN) will continue to be intensified.
