BATAM | INDATANEWS.COM – The Bengkong Police have successfully solved a serious assault case involving a stabbing incident in Batam City. The attack occurred on Wednesday (April 29, 2026) along Jalan Golden City, Tanjung Buntung Village, Bengkong District, Riau Islands Province.
The investigation was launched after the victim formally reported the incident to authorities.

The victim, identified by the initials ME (32), an online ride-hailing driver, arrived at the "Base Camp Sahabat Milenial Batam" with a severe bleeding stab wound to his abdomen. He sought immediate assistance and reported that he had been attacked with a knife in the Golden City area, just before the Cheng Hoo Mosque.
A witness, identified as ME (56), promptly encouraged the victim to report the incident to Bengkong Police, enabling swift investigative action.
Digital Trail Leads Police to Suspect IdentityBengkong Police Criminal Investigation Unit quickly responded to the report. Following witness interviews and preliminary evidence analysis, investigators traced digital booking data from the victim's mobile application, which ultimately led to the identification of the alleged perpetrator.
The Jatanras Unit of the
Riau Islands Police (Polda Kepri), led by investigator Iptu Apriadi, S.H., immediately conducted a manhunt in the Bengkong area.
EVIDENCE SEIZED: Police confiscate a badik knife, a motorcycle, and a jacket allegedly used by the suspect during the attack.
Suspect Surrenders, Weapon Recovered
The suspect, identified by the initials WAS (33), eventually surrendered voluntarily at
Bengkong Police Station. He later led officers to the location where the weapon was hidden.
Authorities recovered a badik knife concealed on the rooftop of a rented house belonging to a relative in the Bengkong area. Police also seized a white Honda Beat Street motorcycle with license plate BP 4876 UR, along with the jacket allegedly worn during the attack.
During interrogation, the suspect fully confessed to the crime.
The suspect is being charged under Article 469 of Indonesia's Criminal Code (KUHP) Law No. 1 of 2023 and faces a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.
The suspect and all evidence have been transferred to
Bengkong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
