Son-in-Law Stabs Mother-in-Law During Dawn Prayer in Torgamba

UNCLEAR MOTIVE: Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga states that the stabbing case in Aek Batu is still under intensive investigation, with the suspect on the run.

LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM A quiet morning in Dusun Asahan, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, was shattered by a brutal stabbing incident on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at around 05:15 a.m.

Local residents were alarmed by screams after a woman was allegedly attacked by her own son-in-law while performing her dawn prayer.

Attack Inside Family Home During Prayer

The victim, Nurlan Br Pasaribu (46), was praying inside her home when the suspect, identified as Reri Pardila (32), allegedly broke in through the back door.

Without warning, the attacker immediately assaulted the victim. Despite attempts to resist, he reportedly continued the attack and stabbed her multiple times with a knife, turning the place of worship into a scene of violence.

Neighbors Discover Victim in Critical Condition

Witness Liya Suwarti (32) and several neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the victim's cries for help. They found Nurlan severely injured and covered in blood, with multiple stab wounds across her body.

The residents quickly evacuated her to the Sehat Cikampak Clinic for emergency medical treatment.

Police Hunt Suspect, Possible Family Dispute Motive

Medical reports confirmed at least nine stab wounds affecting the victim's arms, face, back, chest, and abdomen, requiring around 40 stitches. She remains conscious and is currently receiving intensive care.

Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga confirmed the incident and described it as a serious case of assault.

"Yes, this is a severe criminal assault case. The suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing," he stated.

Authorities are also investigating a possible family dispute as the motive. The suspect reportedly had ongoing conflicts with his wife and had demanded money, two motorcycles, and mobile phones. Some demands had previously been met, but tensions continued to escalate.

Police are continuing their investigation, interviewing witnesses, and intensifying efforts to locate the fleeing suspect. Residents are urged to report any information regarding his whereabouts. (IDNC)
