LABUHANBATU SELATA | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police (Polres Labusel) carried out a Sispam Mako (Sistem Pengamanan Markas Komando) simulation to evaluate officers' readiness in responding to potential security disturbances, particularly those driven by social unrest.
The exercise was held at the police headquarters along the strategic Trans-Sumatra route Kotapinang–Gunung Tua, in Sosopan Village, Kotapinang District, North Sumatra.
Fuel Shortage Scenario Triggers Simulated Unrest
Read Also: Aceh Tengah Police Boost Dalmas Skills in Intensive Training The drill began with a simulated shortage of subsidized fuel (BBM) at several fuel stations, which sparked public dissatisfaction. The situation escalated into violent protests involving vandalism and looting.
The crowd in the simulation then moved toward the police headquarters, demanding the release of previously detained individuals. An emergency call was received through the 110 police hotline and immediately processed through the command chain.
Public Order (Dalmas) units were deployed to secure key access points and protect the police compound perimeter.

Despite the tense scenario, authorities emphasized a restrained and human-centered approach. Protest representatives were received by police leadership to resolve the situation through dialogue.
A restorative justice approach was also incorporated into the simulation, highlighting conflict resolution through mediation rather than force.
Police Chief AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring Muham underscored the importance of balancing firmness and humanity in law enforcement.
"This is not merely a simulation. It is our real preparation to protect the public. Carry out duties responsibly, remain humane, and avoid unnecessary actions," he said.

Coordination and Tactical Preparedness StrengthenedBefore the exercise, personnel underwent briefing sessions and a Tactical Wall Game (TWG) to analyze possible scenarios and prepare strategic responses.
Throughout the drill, officers maintained discipline and controlled responses even under provocation. The situation was successfully stabilized by the end of the simulation.
A final evaluation was conducted to assess operational readiness, coordination, and supporting infrastructure.
The exercise reaffirmed that modern policing depends not only on strength, but also on analysis, communication, and public trust.
