LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM ~ The Labuhanbatu Selatan Police (Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan) carried out a comprehensive inspection of organic firearms issued to its personnel as part of efforts to prevent misuse and strengthen internal discipline.
The inspection was led by a joint team from the Professional and Security Division (Propam) and the Logistics Bureau of the Indonesian National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri), with support from the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut). The activity took place at the Polres Labuhanbatu Selatan hall and was directly received by Police Chief AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring Muham along with senior officials and unit commanders.

Full Inventory of Weapons and Ammunition
During the inspection, officers examined weapon storage facilities, inventory systems, and individually assigned firearms to ensure compliance with regulations and proper registration.
Authorities recorded a total of 233 handguns, all in complete and operational condition. In addition, 7,800 rounds of ammunition were accounted for, including live rounds, rubber bullets, and blank cartridges under strict supervision.
For long-barrel weapons, 74 units were confirmed to be in proper working condition, along with 8,100 rounds of ammunition. Overall, the weapons stock was assessed as meeting operational and safety standards.

Strengthening Discipline and Public Trust
Police Chief AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring Muham emphasized that routine inspections are a key component of maintaining discipline and security within the force.
"Firearms are high-risk tools. Their use must strictly follow regulations. I urge all personnel to act with discipline and responsibility," he stated.
He added that the absence of violations in the inspection results reflects the professionalism of the officers under his command.
In recent years, incidents involving firearm misuse by police personnel in various regions have affected public trust. For this reason, regular inspections are considered essential to ensure transparency and accountability.
Given the complex security challenges in Labuhanbatu Selatan, ranging from conventional crime to narcotics-related offenses, responsible use of authority remains a top priority. The police reaffirmed that the inspection sends a clear message: there is zero tolerance for misconduct.
