JAMBI POLICE UNCOVER EMBEZZLEMENT OF 35 MOTORCYCLES: Kota Baru Police Station has uncovered the alleged embezzlement of 35 company-owned motorcycles and arrested a man identified by the initials D.I. Police have recovered 12 motorcycles as evidence.

JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Kota Baru Police Station (Polsek Kota Baru), under Jambi City Police (Polresta Jambi), has uncovered an alleged embezzlement case involving 35 company-owned motorcycles that were pawned to several individuals. Police arrested a 39-year-old man identified by the initials D.I. at his home in Kota Baru District, Jambi, at around 7 pm local time (WIB) on Wednesday, 4 November 2026.

The case, which falls under Article 486 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), was uncovered by the Sidik 1 Investigation Team and the operational unit of Kota Baru Police Station. During initial questioning, D.I. admitted to pawning 35 motorcycles. He had previously collected a total of 80 vehicles and stored them in a warehouse.

Kota Baru Police Chief AKP Riko Saputra said investigators were continuing their efforts to trace the remaining vehicles. So far, police have recovered 12 motorcycles, while the other 23 are still being sought.

How 80 Motorcycles Ended Up in a Warehouse

The case began when the company contacted D.I. and informed him that it had taken possession of several operational vehicles. He was subsequently tasked with collecting motorcycles from warehouses in Jambi and Tebo and bringing them together at a designated storage facility.

Following discussions about the logistical arrangements, the company and D.I. agreed on a payment of Rp10 million for consolidating the vehicles. The company then transferred the agreed amount to cover the transport and relocation costs.

D.I. subsequently collected 80 motorcycles and stored them in a warehouse in the Talang Bakung area, where they remained for approximately three months.

However, after failing to reach an agreement over the warehouse rental costs, he moved all the motorcycles to another storage facility on Jalan Hutan Kota, in Kenali Asam, Kota Baru District, Jambi.

After relocating the vehicles, D.I. allegedly abused the company's trust for personal gain by pawning the motorcycles to several individuals. He reportedly claimed that the company still owed him outstanding salary payments.

Over approximately two months, he gradually pawned 35 motorcycles. The alleged scheme came to light when the company discovered that numerous vehicles were no longer in its possession or under its control as intended.

The company subsequently reported the alleged embezzlement to Kota Baru Police Station and requested legal action.

Police Recover 12 Motorcycles and Seize 35 BPKB Documents

Following receipt of the report, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Kota Baru Police Station, IPDA Bambang Rikhani, coordinated the investigation with the operational unit and the Riksa 1 Investigation Team. Officers traced the suspect's whereabouts and gathered information about the pawned vehicles.

After locating D.I., officers arrested him at his home in Kota Baru District on Wednesday evening, 4 November 2026.

During the investigation, police seized 35 Motorcycle Ownership Certificates (Buku Pemilik Kendaraan Bermotor or BPKB) covering various motorcycle brands. These documents were identified as evidence connected to the vehicles involved in the alleged scheme.

Separately, officers also recovered 12 physical motorcycles, comprising 11 Honda Beat units and one Honda Verza.

All 12 motorcycles are currently being held at Kota Baru Police Station as evidence. The 35 BPKB documents have also been secured as part of the investigation.

Kota Baru Police Chief AKP Riko Saputra said officers were continuing to trace the remaining 23 motorcycles, which were allegedly still in the possession of individuals to whom the suspect had pawned them.

"After arresting the suspect, we immediately launched further investigations to establish the whereabouts of the evidence. So far, we have recovered 12 vehicles. The investigation is continuing to recover the remaining 23 motorcycles that have been pawned," said AKP Riko Saputra.

Jambi Police Chief Warns Against Suspicious Pawned Vehicles

D.I. is currently being held at Kota Baru Police Station while the legal proceedings continue. Investigators are completing the case file, pursuing the recovery of the outstanding evidence and coordinating with the Jambi Prosecutor's Office.

Jambi Police Chief Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang praised the swift action taken by officers at Kota Baru Police Station in uncovering the alleged embezzlement case.

He said the investigation demonstrated the police's commitment to maintaining public safety and protecting the community from criminal activity.

"I would like to thank the officers at Kota Baru Police Station for successfully uncovering this embezzlement case. We urge the public not to buy pawned vehicles if their origins are unclear. Anyone with information about vehicles that may have originated from criminal activity should report it to the police immediately," said Ananto Herlambang.

He also reminded the public to exercise caution when purchasing vehicles, particularly motorcycles offered through pawn arrangements without complete documentation or a verifiable ownership history.

The case serves as a warning against being tempted by seemingly attractive vehicle offers without first checking the authenticity of the documents and the vehicles' ownership history.

Police are continuing their efforts to locate the remaining 23 motorcycles and recover all outstanding evidence to support the legal process in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. (IDNC)
