NAGAN RAYA POLICE CONDUCT NIGHT PATROLS: Nagan Raya Criminal Investigation Unit officers conduct a Rapid Response Unit patrol in Seunagan to prevent theft, intimidation and night-time security disturbances.

NAGAN RAYA | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Nagan Raya Police has intensified night patrols under its Rapid Response Unit (Unit Reaksi Cepat, URC). The initiative aims to prevent crime and ensure public safety. The operations focus particularly on burglary, robbery, motorcycle theft (C3), intimidation and other forms of street crime across Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh Province.

Criminal Investigation Unit officers held a night briefing at 8 pm local time on Monday, 2 November 2026, before beginning their patrols. The operation continued until midnight on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. The initiative was led by BRIPKA Surya Ade Saputra, an operational officer with Nagan Raya's Criminal Investigation Unit. The head of the operational unit and members of Operational Unit V also took part.

The patrols form part of police efforts to strengthen the monitoring of public security and order (Kamtibmas). This is particularly important during the night, when people continue to gather and spend time at various locations.

Night Briefing Prepares Officers for Patrols

Before deploying to the field, officers attended a night briefing. They received instructions and checked their operational readiness. The briefing served as an initial step to ensure a shared understanding of the patrol objectives and the measures required to prevent potential security disturbances.

Following the briefing, the patrol team used a four-wheeled vehicle to travel through the Seunagan sub-district. Officers observed local conditions, monitored community activities and visited several locations where people had gathered.

The police presence on the ground is intended to strengthen surveillance while also increasing the public's sense of security. Officers adopted a humane and respectful approach when interacting with residents, particularly young people who were still outside their homes late in the evening.

The officers urged young people to return home unless they had an urgent reason to remain outdoors. They also reminded them to maintain public order and put safety first when riding or driving.

This approach forms part of a preventive strategy that goes beyond enforcement. It also encourages the public to play an active role in maintaining safety within their communities.

Young People in Blang Muling Receive Safety Advice

During the patrol, Team 1, led by the head of the Criminal Investigation Unit's operational division, visited Blang Muling village in Seunagan sub-district. There, officers encountered a group of young people who had gathered in the evening.

The police spoke with the young people, offered advice and urged them to return to their respective homes. They also reminded them to prioritise their own safety and that of other road users whenever operating motorised vehicles.

The advice was intended to prevent potential disturbances and reduce the risk of public order violations in residential areas. Through direct engagement, officers hope to help young people understand the importance of responsible behaviour and avoiding activities that could jeopardise public safety.

In addition to providing guidance, officers also checked the situation around the gathering place. During the patrol, they did not find any motorcycles fitted with excessively loud, non-compliant exhaust systems, commonly known locally as "knalpot brong".

This finding was among the results of the on-site monitoring. Nevertheless, police will continue their checks to prevent potential disturbances to public security and order, as well as criminal offences.

The night patrols also give officers an opportunity to gain a direct understanding of local conditions and community activities. Police presence at selected locations is intended to reduce opportunities for crime while strengthening public awareness of the shared responsibility for maintaining safety.

Regular Patrols Aim to Improve Public Safety

Nagan Raya's Criminal Investigation Unit will continue conducting regular Rapid Response Unit (URC) operations to strengthen police visibility within the community. The measures are intended to prevent crime, identify disturbances to public security and order at an early stage, and provide residents with a greater sense of safety and reassurance, particularly at night.

By conducting patrols at several locations throughout Seunagan sub-district, officers are working to maintain a peaceful and secure environment. Monitoring community activities and engaging respectfully with residents remain essential elements of the preventive strategy.

Police are also urging the public not to rely solely on the presence of officers to maintain security. Residents can contribute by remaining alert to their surroundings, maintaining public order and avoiding activities that could lead to security disturbances.

Nagan Raya Police have called on residents to report suspicious activities or suspected criminal offences promptly to the relevant police stations. Information from the public can help officers take the necessary action and prevent security disturbances at an early stage.

Co-operation between the police and the public is an important factor in maintaining public security and order over the long term. Through regular patrols, public education and community participation, Nagan Raya Police are working to strengthen crime prevention and create a safer environment for the entire population. (IDNC)
