JAMBI POLICE UNCOVER 41 MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT CASES: Polda Jambi, together with subordinate police stations, uncovered 41 motor vehicle theft cases during the KRYD operation from 26 to 31 October 2026. A total of 41 vehicles were recovered and 11 suspects arrested.

JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Jambi Regional Police (Polda Jambi), together with all subordinate police stations, uncovered 41 motor vehicle theft cases during an intensified routine operation (KRYD) conducted from 26 to 31 October 2026. During the operation, officers recovered 41 vehicles and arrested 11 suspects.

The investigation results form part of the police's efforts to reduce vehicle theft and strengthen public safety and security across Jambi Province. The recovered vehicles comprised 40 motorcycles and one four-wheeled motor vehicle.

Polda Jambi presented the results of the operation at a press conference led by the Director of Criminal Investigation at Polda Jambi, Kombes Pol. Jimmy Christian Samma. The Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation at Polda Jambi, AKBP Imam Rachman, and the Head of the Multimedia Sub-Section of Polda Jambi's Public Relations Division, AKBP Wirmanto D, also attended the event.

Analysis of Crime Times and High-Risk Areas

The Director of Criminal Investigation at Polda Jambi, Kombes Pol. Jimmy Christian Samma, said police analysis had identified the period between 9 am and 5.59 pm Western Indonesian Time (WIB) as a particularly high-risk period for motor vehicle theft.

The analysis provides an important basis for the police to increase vigilance and strengthen preventive measures in areas considered particularly vulnerable. Members of the public are also urged to pay greater attention to vehicle security, especially when leaving their homes during these hours.

According to the investigation findings, residential areas and housing estates, plantations, commercial districts and religious facilities are among the locations where vehicle theft occurs most frequently. Police also recorded similar offences on public roads, at rented accommodation, car parks, schools, office buildings, markets and entertainment venues.

The range of locations demonstrates that offenders can exploit different circumstances and environments to commit their crimes. Residents are therefore advised to remain particularly vigilant when parking their vehicles, whether in residential areas or public places.

Polda Jambi also identified several methods used by offenders. These include taking and removing vehicles, forcing open ignition locks, using false keys and dismantling vehicle components to facilitate theft.

Police Recommend Additional Security Locks

In his statement, Kombes Jimmy urged the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to protect their vehicles against theft.

"We urge the public to remain vigilant, use additional security locks, park vehicles in safe locations and never leave keys inside vehicles. Preventing motor vehicle theft requires the involvement of all sections of society, as cooperation between the police and the public is an important factor in maintaining a stable public security situation," he said.

He also called on residents to report suspicious activities to the police without delay. Victims of motor vehicle theft can file a report at their nearest police station or contact the police emergency number 110.

According to Kombes Jimmy, public participation is an important part of police investigations in solving crimes and recovering stolen vehicles. Prompt reports containing accurate information can help officers pursue investigations more effectively.

"We also urge residents who have discovered that their motor vehicles are missing to visit the nearest police station immediately and bring proof of ownership, such as the vehicle registration certificate (STNK) and vehicle ownership document (BPKB). This will enable recovered vehicles to be checked and matched against the information provided by their owners," he added.

Polda Jambi allows residents who report missing vehicles to inspect recovered vehicles and compare them with their own. Those wishing to carry out the checks must present the relevant ownership documents as proof.

KRYD to Continue in Fight Against Crime

Polda Jambi reaffirmed its commitment to further intensifying police operations under the KRYD, strengthening preventive efforts and maintaining professional and continuous law enforcement.

Jimmy described the resolution of the 41 motor vehicle theft cases as evidence of the firm action taken by Polda Jambi and all subordinate police stations to provide protection, security and assistance to the public.

"The resolution of these cases demonstrates the determination of Polda Jambi and all subordinate police stations to provide protection, security and services to the public. We will continue to strengthen our professional law enforcement efforts to reduce motor vehicle theft across Jambi Province," Kombes Jimmy concluded.

Through the operation, Polda Jambi hopes to raise public awareness of the importance of vehicle security and encourage residents to play an active role in crime prevention. The police are also seeking closer cooperation between security authorities and the public to establish a safe and stable security environment throughout Jambi Province.

The investigation results also serve as a reminder that tackling motor vehicle theft does not depend solely on police action. Consistently locking vehicles and using additional security devices, choosing safe parking areas and reporting thefts immediately can all help restrict the opportunities available to offenders.
