POLICE SEIZE 5,000 LITRES OF SUSPECTED SUBSIDISED DIESEL: Nagan Raya Police seized a tanker carrying approximately 5,000 litres of Bio Solar diesel suspected of being subsidised fuel in Langkak village, Kuala Pesisir district, Nagan Raya regency, Aceh province, early on Monday, 19 October 2026.

NAGAN RAYA | INDATANEWS.COM - Criminal investigators from Nagan Raya Police have seized a tanker carrying approximately 5,000 litres of Bio Solar diesel suspected of being diverted from Indonesia's subsidised fuel supply. Officers also took the 36-year-old driver, identified by the initials M.H.A., in for questioning.

The operation took place at around 3.10 am on Monday, 19 October 2026, in Langkak village, Kuala Pesisir district, Nagan Raya regency, Aceh province. The vehicle was a blue Hino tanker bearing registration number BK 8460 EG.

The operation was led by the head of the criminal investigation unit, AKP Muhammad Rizal, as part of police efforts to tackle suspected irregularities in the transport and distribution of subsidised fuel.

According to the driver's initial statement, the diesel allegedly belonged to an individual identified by the initial R., who was reportedly in the Banda Aceh area. Investigators are checking the claim to establish the fuel's origin, ownership and intended destination.

Diesel Allegedly Collected from Several Filling Stations

During initial questioning, the driver reportedly said the diesel had been collected from several filling stations in Aceh Besar regency using vehicles that transported fuel from one station to another.

The fuel was allegedly stored at a warehouse in Blang Bintang district, Aceh Besar, before being prepared for resale at a price above the government-regulated retail ceiling.

Investigators are also examining allegations that the diesel was due to be delivered to an individual identified by the initial M. in Beutong district, Nagan Raya. Further inquiries are needed to determine whether other people were involved in the suspected distribution network.

Police said the driver was unable to produce official documents authorising the transport and sale of the Bio Solar diesel during the initial inspection.

Investigators are now checking the driver's statements against the seized evidence and other information. The fuel's ownership, source, distribution channels and intended sale remain central to the investigation, and no conclusions about criminal liability can yet be drawn.

Tanker and Other Evidence Seized

Alongside the driver and tanker, police seized approximately 5,000 litres of Bio Solar diesel, the blue Hino tanker bearing registration number BK 8460 EG and a vehicle key.

Officers also confiscated a vehicle registration document issued in the name of PT Transporter Federal Indonesia and a blue Vivo mobile phone. These items will be examined to help establish the fuel's origin, identify those who controlled it and trace its suspected distribution and sale.

The case was registered under report number LP/A/16/X/2026/SPKT.SAT RESKRIM/POLRES NAGAN RAYA/POLDA ACEH. The police report is dated 19 October 2026 and provides the administrative basis for further investigation.

The report cites Article 55 of Law No. 22 of 2001 on Oil and Natural Gas, as amended by Article 40(9) of Law No. 6 of 2023, which enacted Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation. It also refers to Article 20(c) of Indonesia's Criminal Code (KUHP).

The provisions relate to suspected offences involving the unlawful distribution and trade of fuel. However, their inclusion in the police report does not establish the guilt of anyone under investigation. Police must continue examining the evidence and establish the facts in accordance with applicable law.

Police Urge Public to Report Fuel Distribution Abuses

Nagan Raya Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, speaking through criminal investigation unit chief AKP Muhammad Rizal, said the case was being handled in accordance with established procedures and applicable legislation.

He also urged the public not to misuse subsidised fuel and encouraged residents to report any information about suspected diversion or improper use of subsidised fuel within Nagan Raya Police's jurisdiction.

Public cooperation, he said, could help authorities identify irregularities in fuel procurement, storage, transport and sales that may breach the rules governing subsidised supplies.

Subsidised fuel forms part of Indonesia's energy policy and is intended to help meet the needs of the public and eligible economic sectors. Suspected abuses must therefore be investigated carefully to ensure that government support reaches its intended beneficiaries.

The case highlights the importance of monitoring the entire fuel supply chain, from filling stations and storage facilities to transport and final distribution. Tracing the source of the 5,000 litres of Bio Solar diesel is expected to help investigators establish how the fuel was obtained and where it was intended to go.

As of the time of writing, the alleged ownership and distribution arrangements remain under investigation. All individuals named in the initial statements must be presumed innocent unless and until their guilt is established by a final court judgment.

The case also underscores the need for cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the public to prevent the misuse of subsidised fuel and ensure that state-supported energy supplies reach eligible recipients. (IDNC)
