READY TO ASSIST EDUCATORS FACING LEGAL PROBLEMS: Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Muhibuddin reaffirms the Prosecutor’s Office’s readiness to assist and support educators during the launch of the “Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik” program at the Raja Inal Siregar Hall, North Sumatra Governor’s Office, Medan, Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

MEDAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office Muhibuddin, S.H., M.H., has reaffirmed that prosecutors must be present to assist educators so they do not have to face legal problems alone while carrying out their duties. The commitment is being implemented through the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" (Prosecutors as Friends of Educators) program, which specifically promotes legal assistance, support, and the provision of knowledge on legal provisions and regulations for education personnel across North Sumatra.

Muhibuddin made the assurance during the launch of the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program together with North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution at the Raja Inal Siregar Hall, North Sumatra Governor's Office, Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Medan, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

According to Muhibuddin, educators carry significant responsibility in implementing various education programs. In practice, however, their duties may involve administrative provisions and regulations that are not always easy to understand. This is particularly relevant when school principals take on additional responsibilities as Pejabat Pembuat Komitmen (PPK), or officials responsible for commitment and procurement processes.

For this reason, the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office is emphasizing assistance and prevention through the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program. Muhibuddin believes that an early understanding of legal provisions can help educators perform their duties more calmly and safely while preventing potential problems from developing into legal cases.

"Educators Are Not Alone"

Muhibuddin stressed that the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program is not merely about the presence of a law enforcement institution in the education sector. Rather, it provides the Prosecutor's Office with a means to help educators better understand the regulations that apply to them in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

"We are ready to assist educators, including school principals who serve as Pejabat Pembuat Komitmen (PPK), when they encounter regulatory difficulties. Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik is intended to accompany them so that our educators are not left to deal with problems alone, particularly when they are appointed as PPKs. A lack of understanding of regulations can potentially create challenges or obstacles. This is precisely where Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik will be present to help and accompany educators," said the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office.

The statement reflects the Prosecutor's Office's attention to potential problems that may arise when school principals assume the role of PPK. A lack of knowledge or insufficient understanding of regulations can lead to difficulties in carrying out their duties, even when there was no initial intention to violate any provisions.

Through this assistance, the Prosecutor's Office seeks to create room for consultation and knowledge-sharing so educators understand the regulations they are required to comply with. This approach also makes prevention an important element of sound education governance.

Muhibuddin said the Prosecutor's Office must demonstrate a shared commitment across North Sumatra to supporting educational development. In his view, strengthening the education sector requires the involvement of various stakeholders, including law enforcement institutions.

He added that the Prosecutor's Office throughout North Sumatra, together with the North Sumatra Provincial Government, would strengthen cross-sector cooperation to support educational development. The cooperation, he said, should not end with ceremonial events but should continue through assistance and coordination at the field level.

Government Strengthens Cooperation

The commitment was subsequently reinforced through the signing of an agreement between the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office and the Governor of North Sumatra. Similar agreements were also signed between the heads of district prosecutor's offices and mayors and regents across North Sumatra.

The step opens broader opportunities for cooperation between the Prosecutor's Office and regional governments in supporting the education sector. Through coordination, regional governments and prosecutors can strengthen preventive measures and develop a better understanding of various legal aspects related to the implementation of education programs.

Also attending the program launch were Assistant for Intelligence Affairs at the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office Irfan Wibowo, S.H., M.H.; Assistant for Civil and Administrative Affairs Nurhandayani, S.H., M.H.; and Assistant for General Crimes Suhendri, S.H., M.H.

The heads of district prosecutor's offices across North Sumatra participated both in person and online. Also in attendance were heads of education offices, heads of education branch offices, and school principals from across North Sumatra.

The participation of various stakeholders demonstrates that the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program has a broad scope of application. It covers various levels of education and education stakeholders while also creating a coordination channel between law enforcement institutions and educational institutions.

With a better understanding of regulations, school principals and educators are expected to be able to implement education programs without excessive concern, particularly when they have to make decisions involving administration, procurement, or the organization of activities.

Bobby: Schools Need Support from Credible Institutions

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution welcomed the launch of the "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" program. In his view, the program can provide schools with both protection and oversight against various potential problems.

"It protects schools from misconduct, both from within and from outside. In this way, teachers and school principals are supervised by the proper institution in carrying out their duties," he said.

According to Bobby, the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office holds a strategic position in providing guidance and advice to education personnel, particularly in understanding laws and regulations.

Bobby said the involvement of a credible institution can help teachers and school principals better understand the boundaries of their responsibilities. In this way, oversight does not only take place after a problem has occurred but can also become part of preventive measures.

Bobby added that the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor's Office is one of the credible institutions capable of providing guidance and advice to education personnel in carrying out their duties, particularly in understanding laws and regulations. "This allows oversight to be carried out by a genuinely credible institution that can provide guidance and advice in carrying out their duties," Bobby said.

The launch of "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" marks an important moment in strengthening relations between law enforcement institutions and the education sector in North Sumatra. The Prosecutor's Office is not only carrying out its law enforcement function but is also taking part in providing legal knowledge through a preventive approach.

For educators, particularly school principals assigned duties as PPKs, a sound understanding of regulations is highly important. Early assistance can help them make more appropriate decisions and reduce the risk of mistakes resulting from insufficient knowledge of applicable provisions.

Muhibuddin assured that the Prosecutor's Office in North Sumatra is ready to implement this commitment. Through "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik," educators are expected to have access to assistance when they encounter legal or regulatory questions.

The program also underscores that educational development requires more than the construction of facilities and improvements in the quality of human resources. Legal certainty, a sound understanding of regulations, and a working environment that enables educators to perform their duties professionally are also important components of a quality education system.

Through cooperation between the Prosecutor's Office, the North Sumatra Provincial Government, district and city governments, and all education stakeholders, "Jaksa Sahabat Pendidik" is expected to become an instrument for prevention and legal assistance that directly benefits schools and educators across North Sumatra.
