NIGHT PATROL: Rapid Response Unit officers from the Satreskrim of the Aceh Tengah Police conduct a night patrol at several crime-prone locations within the jurisdiction of the Aceh Tengah Police on Monday, October 5, 2026.

ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Aceh Tengah Police (Polres Aceh Tengah) has stepped up crime prevention efforts by conducting night patrols at several locations considered vulnerable to conventional crimes and street crime.

The patrol was conducted on Monday, October 5, 2026, starting at 10 p.m. local time. A total of nine officers from the Rapid Response Unit (Unit Reaksi Cepat/URC) of the Aceh Tengah Police were deployed within the jurisdiction to monitor security and public order conditions in the community.

The measure is part of the police's efforts to maintain a stable security situation, particularly at night. During these hours, public activity generally decreases, while the risk of security disturbances increases at certain locations.

Patrols Target Crime-Prone Locations

During the patrol, Satreskrim officers focused on several parking areas, road sections and locations identified through police risk assessments as potential sites for conventional crimes and street crime.

The officers monitored not only conditions in the surrounding areas but also observed public activities and vehicles moving through various locations to anticipate potential security disturbances at an early stage.

The measures also aimed to strengthen surveillance in areas requiring particular attention at night. The presence of police officers at vulnerable locations is expected to deter potential offenders from taking advantage of quiet conditions to commit crimes.

The patrols also enabled officers to directly assess the security situation in the field. If they encountered circumstances that could potentially disrupt public security and order, the officers could take appropriate measures according to the situation and within the scope of their authority.

In addition to monitoring vulnerable locations, officers also provided advice to members of the public, particularly drivers of two- and four-wheeled vehicles. Road users were urged to remain alert and exercise greater caution while traveling at night.

The advice included paying close attention to surrounding conditions and not underestimating potential security risks while driving. Police also appealed to the public to actively contribute to maintaining security and to immediately report any suspicious activities.

Police Urge Public to Remain Vigilant

Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., through Satreskrim Chief AKP Abdul Mufakhir, S.H., M.H., said the night patrols were a preventive measure aimed at creating a safe environment and providing the public with a sense of security.

"Patrols are an expression of the police presence among the community. We remind residents, particularly those who are traveling or driving at night, to always pay close attention to their surroundings," he said.

According to Abdul Mufakhir, the presence of officers in the field plays an important role in strengthening the community's sense of security. The patrols were not merely intended to respond to security disturbances that had already occurred, but also to prevent potential crimes before they developed into incidents that could harm members of the public.

He explained that the police use risk assessments of individual areas as one of the bases for determining patrol targets. This allows officers to focus their attention on locations requiring more intensive monitoring.

Risk assessments also help the police adapt their security strategies to the conditions of each area. Therefore, the URC officers were not simply patrolling, but conducted their surveillance based on locations identified as priorities in crime prevention efforts.

Preventing Conventional and Street Crime

The Satreskrim of the Aceh Tengah Police conducted the patrols as part of its efforts to prevent conventional crimes and street crime. Police consider continuous preventive measures necessary to maintain security, particularly during hours when risks are considered higher.

The deployment of nine URC officers at several locations is intended to limit opportunities for potential offenders while strengthening public confidence in police presence.

The night patrols also support police efforts to strengthen communication with the community. When officers directly provide motorists and residents with information about security measures, they receive important reminders about the importance of safety and personal vigilance during their activities.

Police urged the public, particularly those traveling at night, not to become complacent. Road users were advised to remain aware of their surroundings and avoid behavior that could increase the risk of becoming victims of crime.

At the same time, the public plays an important role in supporting the police in maintaining security. Information from residents about conditions in their neighborhoods or suspicious activities can help officers take preventive measures more quickly.

Through regular and targeted patrols, the Satreskrim of the Aceh Tengah Police is working to ensure that residents can carry out their activities safely. The measure also demonstrates the police's commitment to maintaining a presence among the community and preserving a stable security and public order situation throughout the jurisdiction of the Aceh Tengah Police.

The night patrol was one of the measures taken to strengthen the preventive work of the Aceh Tengah Police in response to the risk of conventional crimes and street crime. Police will continue to optimize surveillance in areas with higher potential risks so that possible security disturbances can be prevented at an early stage. (IDNC)
