CASES RESOLVED THROUGH RESTORATIVE JUSTICE: The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police handled various criminal cases and resolved a total of 18 cases through the Restorative Justice approach from January to September 2026.

NAGAN RAYA | INDATANEWS.COM - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police has demonstrated its commitment to protecting the public, providing services, and ensuring legal certainty. From January to September 2026, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police handled various criminal cases while also resolving 18 cases through a Restorative Justice approach.

The cases were handled by several units within the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police, including the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) and the General Crime Unit (Pidum). The implementation of Restorative Justice represents a police approach to resolving certain cases by taking into account applicable laws and regulations as well as the interests of all parties involved.

In addition to cases involving women and children, the PPA Unit also handled several domestic violence cases. Meanwhile, the Pidum Unit was responsible for general criminal offenses, including theft cases. Each case was handled according to the characteristics of the incident and the authority of the relevant unit.

18 Cases Resolved Through Restorative Justice

Nagan Raya Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police, AKP Muhammad Rizal, S.E., S.H., M.H., said that the Criminal Investigation Unit handles all reports from the public professionally and objectively. At the same time, the police ensure that every case is handled in accordance with applicable legal provisions.

"In handling every case, we continue to prioritize legal certainty and the protection of victims. In certain cases that meet the required conditions, a solution through Restorative Justice can be pursued, with restoration, accountability and reconciliation among the parties involved at the center," the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit said.

According to him, resolving cases through Restorative Justice is not solely about punishing offenders. Instead, the approach provides victims with an opportunity to obtain a form of compensation and restoration. At the same time, offenders are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions.

Through this mechanism, the police bring together the interests of the parties involved in an effort to find a solution that can create peace and a sense of justice. However, the approach is not applied arbitrarily. Each case must meet the established requirements and be handled according to legally prescribed procedures.

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police places victim protection among the most important considerations in every case-resolution process. The police also ensure that the implementation of Restorative Justice does not disregard victims' rights or the principle of legal certainty.

Protecting Women, Children and Domestic Violence Victims

Meanwhile, the PPA and Pidum units continue to receive reports from the public and handle cases submitted to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police. The PPA Unit focuses on cases involving women and children, including domestic violence cases. The Pidum Unit, meanwhile, handles various general criminal offenses within its jurisdiction.

The handling of these cases is part of the police's efforts to provide the public with prompt and appropriate services. Each report is handled according to the characteristics and facts of the respective case so that the legal process can be carried out in a measurable and transparent manner and in accordance with applicable regulations.

The police also seek to maintain a balance between law enforcement and the interests of victims. In certain cases that meet the required conditions, Restorative Justice may be used as an alternative means of resolving a case, while continuing to take into account agreements among the parties involved and applicable legal provisions.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit emphasized that the success of handling a case cannot be measured solely by whether action has been taken against an offender. In his view, the legal process must also be capable of contributing to restoration and providing the public with a sense of justice.

"Law enforcement is not only about punishment, but also about how we create restoration, responsibility, peace and a sense of justice for the public," the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit added.

Commitment to Better Legal Services

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police continues to work to improve the quality of its services and law enforcement through professional, transparent and regulation-based case handling. This effort is also part of the police's commitment to providing the public with legal certainty.

The Restorative Justice approach is a mechanism that can be used in certain cases when the required conditions are fulfilled. Through this approach, resolving a case takes into account not only legal aspects but also the restoration of the victim's situation, the offender's responsibility, reconciliation and the public's sense of justice.

At the same time, the Criminal Investigation Unit continues to handle all cases based on applicable regulations. Every report submitted by the public is part of the police's responsibility to professionally provide protection and legal services.

Through these various measures, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police reaffirms its commitment to providing better services to the public. Case handling is expected to remain objective, transparent, responsive, humane and fair.

The resolution of 18 cases through Restorative Justice from January to September 2026 is part of the duties carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Nagan Raya Police in seeking solutions to criminal cases in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. At the same time, the police continue to place victim protection and legal certainty at the center of every case-handling process. (IDNC)
