JAMBI | INDATANEWS.COM - Criminal investigators from the Danau Teluk Police Station, part of the Jambi City Police (Polresta Jambi), have solved an alleged assault case that occurred in Danau Teluk District, Jambi City. Police arrested a 30-year-old man identified by the initials R less than 48 hours after the incident.
Jambi City Police Chief Kombes Pol Ananto Herlambang, through the
Danau Teluk Police Station chief, said officers acted after receiving a report from the victim concerning the alleged assault. The station's operational criminal investigation team then launched an investigation to determine the suspect's whereabouts and arrest him.
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at around 7:10 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) in RT 10, Tanjung Raden, Danau Teluk District, Jambi City. The 28-year-old victim, identified by the initials O.A.E., is a resident of Tanjung Raden.
Suspect Came to Victim's House
Based on preliminary investigation findings, the incident began while the victim was at home having dinner. Shortly afterward, R arrived at the victim's house. The suspect took a shower there and then sat down to have a meal with the victim.
The situation, however, changed when the suspect suddenly became angry and used offensive language. He also threatened the victim, saying that he would kill him.
At that point, R took a knife from a room. The suspect then attacked the victim and stabbed him in the right arm.
After the attack, the suspect left the scene. The injured victim subsequently reported the incident to the
Danau Teluk Police Station and sought police assistance.
Police immediately followed up on the report. The operational criminal investigation team of the Danau Teluk Police Station, led by investigation officer IPDA KGS. M. Ali, carried out a series of investigative measures to establish the suspect's identity and determine his whereabouts.
Officers gathered information from several people and followed leads concerning R's whereabouts. The investigation eventually produced results after police received information that the suspect was at his home.

Police Found Suspect Asleep
After determining the suspect's whereabouts, the Danau Teluk Police criminal investigation team immediately went to R's house. There, officers found the suspect asleep in his room.
"After an intensive investigation, we received information about the suspect's whereabouts and learned that he was at his home. The team immediately went to the location and found the suspect sleeping in his room," the police station chief said.
Officers subsequently arrested R without resistance. The arrest was carried out on Monday, September 21, 2026, at around 10:00 a.m. WIB.
Police therefore succeeded in arresting R less than 48 hours after the alleged assault. Following the arrest, officers brought the suspect and the evidence to the
Danau Teluk Police Station, where he will undergo the subsequent legal process.
As part of the investigation, police secured a sheet of a Visum et Repertum, a medical examination and findings document, as one of the pieces of evidence. Meanwhile, the approximately 10-centimeter-long knife allegedly used by the suspect in the attack is still being sought and remains on the list of evidence being searched for.

Investigators Complete Case File
R is being charged under Article 466 Paragraph 1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) for assault. The provision carries a maximum prison sentence of two years and six months.
Investigators at the Danau Teluk Police Station are currently completing the administrative requirements of the investigation. Police are also questioning the suspect and several witnesses and completing the case file before proceeding with the legal process in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The handling of the case is part of the efforts by the
Jambi City Police to respond to public reports concerning security disturbances and criminal activity within its jurisdiction. Police also urged residents to resolve conflicts calmly and refrain from using violence.
The Jambi City Police called on the public to work together to maintain security and public order, or Kamtibmas, so that conditions remain safe and stable. Residents were also encouraged not to let their emotions take control when facing problems that could potentially lead to conflict.
Police expressed hope that residents would prioritize communication and peaceful solutions when dealing with problems. At the same time, citizens were urged to immediately inform authorities if they witnessed actions that could threaten security in their neighborhoods.
With R's arrest, investigators are continuing the questioning process to fully clarify the assault case. This includes reconstructing the sequence of events based on statements from the victim, suspect and witnesses, as well as completing the evidence required for the investigation. (IDNC)
