LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - Labuhanbatu Selatan Police uncovered a suspected narcotics case in the Sei Rumbia Plantation area, Kotapinang District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, on Friday afternoon, September 18, 2026. During the operation, the Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested a 26-year-old man identified by the initials BAI, also known as Bayu. Police seized a substance suspected to be methamphetamine with a gross weight of 2.06 grams.
BAI, also known as Bayu, is a resident of Dusun I Sidumulyo, Sidomulyo Village, Aek Kuo District, Labuhanbatu Utara Regency. In addition to a plastic bag containing the suspected methamphetamine, officers also seized a silver-colored plastic bag and a black Vivo mobile phone believed to be connected to the case.
The case came to light following information from the public submitted through Dumas Presisi, the Indonesian Police's official public complaint and information system. The report alerted authorities to suspected drug trafficking activities in the Sei Rumbia Plantation area.
The Narcotics Investigation Unit subsequently followed up on the information and went to the reported location at around 3:00 p.m. local time. Upon arrival, officers noticed a man whose behavior aroused their suspicion.
The officers stopped the man and conducted an inspection. During the identification process, he stated that his name was BAI, also known as Bayu.
Investigation Follows Public Tip
During the search, officers observed BAI throw a silver-colored plastic bag onto the ground with his left hand. Police then examined the item to determine its contents.
Inside the bag, officers found another plastic bag containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine. After weighing, the substance had a gross weight of 2.06 grams.
During initial questioning, BAI, also known as Bayu, admitted that the substance seized by officers belonged to him. Police subsequently took the suspect and the evidence to the police station for further legal proceedings.
Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Chief AKBP Rosef Efendi, S.I.K., M.H., CPHR., confirmed the case through the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, AKP Wilson Manahan Panjaitan, S.H., M.H., on Sunday, September 20, 2026, during a confirmation at the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police Headquarters.
"This case began with information from the public through Dumas Presisi. The information was then verified by officers in the field, which ultimately led to the securing of a suspect along with evidence suspected to be methamphetamine," AKP Wilson Manahan Panjaitan said.
According to AKP Wilson Manahan Panjaitan, police are continuing to expand their investigation into the case. Investigators are examining not only BAI's possible involvement but also whether other individuals may be connected to the suspected drug trafficking activity.
The ongoing investigation is expected to determine the origin of the suspected narcotics and whether a network or other drug-trafficking activities are connected to the case.

Investigators Examine Possible Involvement of Others
As part of the investigation, police are carrying out several procedural steps in accordance with applicable laws. These include preparing the police report, completing the investigation documents, questioning witnesses and the suspect, as well as conducting a case discussion among investigators.

Reports can be submitted through the Indonesian Police call center at 110 or directly to the nearest police station. Police said information from residents can help officers detect suspicious activities at an early stage.
