ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - The Traffic Unit of the Aceh Tengah Police has intensified its night patrols into the early morning hours to prevent illegal street racing and control vehicles equipped with excessively loud exhaust systems, commonly known as "Brong" exhausts. The patrols targeted several road sections considered potential locations for illegal racing, as well as busy areas during the night and early morning hours.
The preventive and community-oriented patrol was carried out on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time until 4:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026. A total of 10 Aceh Tengah traffic police officers took part in the operation. They were supported by an Isuzu D-Max patrol vehicle and two patrol motorcycles.
The operation forms part of police efforts to maintain public safety, traffic security, public order, and smooth traffic flow. This is particularly important at night, when illegal street racing can endanger other road users and disrupt traffic conditions.
Patrols Focus on High-Risk Areas
During the operation, officers monitored several road sections in Takengon and surrounding areas. The locations included Jalan Lebe Kader, Jalan Sengeda, the old Takengon Terminal, Pasar Inpres, the road section in front of SPBU Lintang, and Jalan Desa Mongal in Bebesen District.
Officers paid particular attention to the road in front of SPBU Lintang and Jalan Desa Mongal. At both locations, police identified indications of a higher risk of
illegal street racing. The patrols were therefore intended to prevent activities that could endanger motorists, motorcyclists, and local residents.
The officers' presence was not solely focused on enforcing regulations. They also monitored conditions on the ground and engaged directly with residents at several points during the patrol.
Through these conversations, officers explained the importance of complying with traffic regulations. Road users were also reminded to make safety their top priority while driving. This is particularly relevant at night, when limited visibility and road conditions can affect traffic safety.
Officers also urged residents not to use excessively loud or so-called "Brong" exhaust systems. Vehicles producing excessive noise can disturb the peace and comfort of residents and potentially contribute to public-order disturbances on the roads.

Two Motorcycles with Loud Exhausts Seized
The seven-hour patrol produced concrete results. The
Aceh Tengah Traffic Police seized two motorcycles equipped with excessively loud or so-called "Brong" exhaust systems.
The officers subsequently instructed the motorcycle owners to replace the non-compliant exhaust systems with standard exhausts. The replacement was carried out at the Aceh Tengah Police headquarters. The measure reflects an enforcement approach that does not focus solely on penalizing violations but also encourages vehicle owners to comply with applicable regulations.
The control of excessively loud exhaust systems remains a particular focus for police because excessive vehicle noise can disturb residents, especially when motorcycles travel through residential areas at night or during the early morning hours.
In addition to maintaining public comfort, inspecting vehicles with non-compliant equipment is part of the duties of police personnel during the operation. For this reason, police continue to conduct regular patrols and engage directly with the community to prevent potential violations at an early stage.
The community-oriented approach also gives officers an opportunity to provide road users with direct guidance on safety. Police are therefore not only present after a disturbance has occurred but also seek to identify potential violations and safety concerns early and prevent them from escalating.

Police Put Road User Safety at the Center
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., through Traffic Unit Chief AKP Rerit Oktafiandi, S.Tr.K., S.I.K., CPHR., said the community-oriented patrol was a preventive measure to ensure that residents could carry out their activities and use public roads safely.
"We are taking a community-oriented approach through our presence and direct dialogue with residents. The inspections are intended to ensure the safety of road users while also creating a safe and orderly traffic environment," he said.
According to him, the presence of officers at several vulnerable locations is an important part of maintaining traffic safety, particularly from nighttime through the early morning hours. The patrols also allow police to assess conditions on the ground and respond to potential disturbances that may arise within the community.
Police urged drivers not to use public roads as racing tracks. Illegal street racing not only puts the participants themselves at risk but can also threaten the safety of other road users who are not involved in the activity.
The public is also encouraged to help maintain public order by using vehicles in accordance with regulations. Drivers should ensure that their vehicles are in a roadworthy condition, use the required standard equipment, and avoid actions that could disturb other road users or residents living along the roads.
During the operation, conditions at the locations monitored by
Aceh Tengah Traffic Police officers remained safe, orderly, and smooth. Police will continue strengthening preventive measures through regular patrols and dialogue with the community to maintain traffic safety and public order within the jurisdiction of the
Aceh Tengah Police.
