ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - Police in Aceh Tengah Regency destroyed 101.948 kilograms of dried cannabis seized in three drug cases that had received legally binding court verdicts. Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., personally led the destruction of the evidence on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters.
The destruction was part of police efforts to break the chain of illegal drug trafficking in Aceh Tengah. In addition to fulfilling legal requirements following the completion of court proceedings, the measure was intended to ensure that the seized evidence could not be returned to circulation or misused.
The operation also highlighted cooperation between the police, the regional administration, law enforcement agencies, relevant institutions, and media representatives in combating drug trafficking. The presence of various stakeholders during the destruction further demonstrated transparency in the handling of evidence from drug-related criminal cases.
Three Cases Result in 101.9 Kilograms of Cannabis Seized
Head of the Aceh Tengah Police Narcotics Investigation Unit Iptu Bambang Pelis, S.H., M.H., said the destroyed evidence consisted of dried cannabis weighing a total of 101,948 grams, or approximately 101.9 kilograms.
According to Iptu Bambang, the evidence came from three drug cases handled by the Aceh Tengah Police Narcotics Investigation Unit in May and June 2026. Police arrested one suspect in each of the three cases. The three individuals were identified as couriers.
The cases subsequently went through the judicial process until the Takengon District Court issued legally binding verdicts. Following the completion of all legal proceedings, the authorities destroyed the evidence in accordance with applicable regulations.
The destruction of the large quantity of cannabis was part of the continued handling of the drug cases. Police are not only working to uncover trafficking networks and arrest suspects, but are also ensuring that confiscated drugs cannot return to illegal circulation.
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Teguh Siswoyo said the successful handling of a case involving more than 101 kilograms of cannabis demonstrated his unit's determination to combat drug trafficking within the jurisdiction of the Aceh Tengah Police.
"Do not even try to trade or distribute any type of drugs in Aceh Tengah. Remember, we will pursue you wherever you go," AKBP Teguh stressed.

Police Chief Reaffirms Firm Stance Against Drugs
AKBP Teguh said police would continue taking firm action against anyone involved in drug trafficking. He also warned offenders against repeating the same crimes after completing their criminal proceedings.
According to AKBP Teguh, combating drug trafficking cannot rely solely on police action. Support from various sections of society is essential to preventing the spread of drugs and, in particular, protecting young people from the consequences of drug abuse.
"We will consistently pursue drug offenders. We ask the regional leadership, all elements of society, and the media to support efforts to combat drug-related crime in Aceh Tengah," he said.
The police chief also urged residents not to provide any space for activities linked to drug trafficking. Information from the public can help authorities identify suspicious activities at an early stage and take faster action against illegal drug trafficking networks.

Regional Government Supports Establishment of BNK
Deputy Regent of Aceh Tengah Muksin Hasan welcomed the Aceh Tengah Police's efforts to combat drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking. He said the Aceh Tengah administration supports both law enforcement and preventive measures aimed at protecting young people from the dangers of drugs.
"We urge all levels of village administration to work together and ensure that drug trafficking does not occur in Aceh Tengah, including in the villages," he said.
Muksin emphasized that prevention efforts require the involvement of all levels of government down to the village level. Village administrations hold an important position because they have direct contact with residents and can help identify various problems in their respective communities at an early stage.
In addition to strengthening prevention at the village level, the Aceh Tengah administration is also preparing steps to improve coordination with institutions responsible for combating drugs. Muksin said his administration would work with the Aceh Tengah Police Chief to strengthen communication with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) at both the national and Aceh levels.
One of the efforts concerns the planned establishment of a district-level narcotics agency, known as the Badan Narkotika Kabupaten (BNK), in Aceh Tengah. The establishment of such an institution is expected to strengthen coordination among various programs aimed at preventing and combating drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking in the region.
Representatives from the prosecutor's office, court, health office, Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (Balai POM), legal advisers, and media organizations also attended the destruction of the cannabis evidence. The involvement of multiple institutions illustrates that the handling of drug cases involves a series of legal procedures and oversight mechanisms involving various stakeholders.
