ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - AKBP Teguh Siswoyo, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., officially assumed his duties as Chief of the Aceh Tengah Police on Monday, September 14, 2026. He took over the leadership from AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H. The welcoming ceremony was held at the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters and featured elements of traditional Gayo culture, including the Guel dance and the traditional "Pedang Pora" ceremony.
AKBP Teguh Siswoyo's arrival through the gate of the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters, accompanied by the Guel dance and the "Pedang Pora" formation, marked the beginning of a new leadership period for the Aceh Tengah Police. At the same time, the ceremony marked the end of AKBP Muhamad Taufiq's tenure, during which he served alongside police personnel in the Bumi Gayo region.
The farewell and welcoming ceremony, which began at 8:30 a.m. local time, proceeded solemnly and was filled with emotional moments. The Aceh Tengah Police organized the leadership transition not only as a formal welcome for the new police chief, but also as an expression of appreciation for the outgoing chief, who had led the unit and strengthened solidarity among its personnel.
The event began with AKBP Muhamad Taufiq presenting a flower garland to AKBP Teguh Siswoyo. This was followed by the Guel dance, bringing the cultural heritage of the Gayo people into the leadership transition ceremony at the Aceh Tengah Police.
Guel Dance Marks the Leadership Transition
The performance of the Guel dance was an important part of the welcome for the new police chief. The traditional Gayo cultural performance reflected the respect of Aceh Tengah police personnel toward their new leader while also highlighting the region's cultural identity within the police institution.
Following the Guel dance, the heads of the various police sectors and officers of the unit took their positions to form the "Pedang Pora" formation. The traditional ceremony accompanied AKBP Teguh Siswoyo as he entered the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters and symbolized the respect, solidarity, unity and loyalty of police personnel during the leadership transition.
After the welcoming ceremony, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq introduced the new police chief to senior officers and the heads of the various police sectors. The introduction marked AKBP Teguh Siswoyo's first step toward establishing internal communication, strengthening coordination and improving cooperation in carrying out police duties and delivering public services.
The event then continued with a "Farewell Parade." During the ceremony, AKBP Muhamad Taufiq expressed his gratitude to all members of the Aceh Tengah Police for their support throughout his tenure as police chief.
"I thank all my colleagues for their dedication and support in carrying out my duties during my time here. I ask for your prayers and blessings for my new assignment with the Nagan Raya Police," he said.
AKBP Muhamad Taufiq also apologized for any words or actions during his tenure that may have caused offense. He recalled various experiences shared with his personnel, including responses to hydrometeorological disasters, when police officers were deployed directly to affected areas to assist communities in need.
"We have experienced both good and difficult times together, including dealing with disasters in Aceh Tengah. It was very dramatic and has become a deeply meaningful experience for me," he said.

In particular, the response to hydrometeorological disasters was among the experiences that would remain most memorable, as officers were required to respond to emergencies while at the same time helping affected communities.
During the emotional farewell, Taufiq acknowledged the dedication of police personnel who had supported him in carrying out his duties throughout his tenure. He also asked for their prayers and blessings as he moved on to his next assignment as Chief of the Nagan Raya Police.
The leadership transition continued with an address by AKBP Teguh Siswoyo. The new police chief expressed his gratitude to all members of the Aceh Tengah Police for the warm welcome.
"May this first ceremony as police chief bring blessings and create hope for the future. Thank you all for the welcome. The situation remains safe and stable up to this point," AKBP Teguh said.

"Pedang Pora" Escorts Taufiq's Farewell
Following the parade, the ceremony continued with the handover of the situation and unit report between the outgoing and incoming police chiefs in the hall of the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters. Senior officers and the heads of the various police sectors attended the event, which formed part of the process of transferring leadership responsibilities.
An emotional atmosphere returned during the subsequent farewell. Members of the Aceh Tengah Police once again formed a "Pedang Pora" formation to escort AKBP Muhamad Taufiq and his wife, Mrs. Vifa Taufiq, as they left the police headquarters.
Farewell songs and the reading of a poem accompanied the moment. Taufiq and Mrs. Vifa Taufiq walked through the main gate of the Aceh Tengah Police Headquarters before leaving the unit where they had served for an extended period and experienced their journey in public service together.
The ceremony also marked the end of AKBP Muhamad Taufiq's tenure in Bumi Gayo. The various experiences during his service, including his cooperation with police personnel and involvement in disaster response efforts, will remain part of his leadership record at the Aceh Tengah Police.
Meanwhile, AKBP Teguh Siswoyo has now assumed leadership of the Aceh Tengah Police. With this responsibility, he takes on the task of maintaining security, further strengthening services to the community and preserving the public trust that has been built by police personnel.
Ultimately, a leadership transition is not merely the replacement of one person in an official position. The transfer of responsibility represents the continuity of the police service to the community. From one leadership period to the next, the duty to maintain security, strengthen cooperation and provide the people of Aceh Tengah with the best possible public services continues. (IDNC)
