LABUHANBATU SELATAN | INDATANEWS.COM - The Torgamba Police (Polsek Torgamba) conducted a search on Thursday, September 10, 2026, as part of a "Gerebek Sarang Narkoba" (GSN), or anti-drug raid, at a location in Asahan Hamlet, Aek Batu Village, Torgamba Subdistrict, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency. The site was suspected of being used for drug consumption and abuse.
During the search, officers found no suspects or narcotics. However, they discovered several items believed to be associated with drug use.
The items seized included seven plastic bottles allegedly used as makeshift smoking or inhalation devices (bongs), nine empty transparent plastic bags, two lighters, and three plastic pipettes. Police took all of the items and brought them to the Torgamba Police Station for further examination.
The GSN operation began at around 4:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and continued until the operation was completed. The operation was led by
Torgamba Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Iptu Rajo Irawan Hamonangan, S.H., M.H., together with personnel from the criminal operations unit and officers on duty. Asahan Hamlet Head Salamun also accompanied the police during the operation.
Operation Triggered by Public Tip
The police launched the search after receiving a report from residents earlier that day. Local residents reported suspected drug abuse by a group of people in the Asahan Hamlet area.
Torgamba Police Chief AKP Sunipan Gurusinga, S.H., subsequently instructed officers to inspect the reported location and conduct a GSN operation.
Upon arriving at the site, officers searched the area and found several items believed to be connected to drug consumption.
Although the officers discovered suspected drug-use equipment, they found no narcotics. No individual was arrested or identified as a suspect during the operation.
AKP Sunipan Gurusinga said the operation was carried out in response to information and complaints received from the public.
"This action was a response to information and reports from the public regarding suspected drug abuse. We immediately checked the location and found several items believed to be associated with drug use," AKP Sunipan Gurusinga said.
He said information from the public was extremely important in helping police identify locations that might be linked to drug-related activities.
AKP Sunipan also urged residents to immediately report any suspicious activities to the police.
"We urge the public to work together in combating drugs. Anyone who observes suspicious activities or suspected narcotics trafficking should immediately report the information to the police. The role of the community is very important in creating a safe and drug-free environment," he stressed.

Police Seize Suspected Drug-Use Equipment
Following the inspection, Torgamba Police officers seized seven bongs, nine empty plastic bags, two lighters, and three plastic pipettes.
The police brought all of the items to the
Torgamba Police Station for further examination and assessment. No narcotics were found at the location by the time the operation was completed.
Police also said there was so far no established connection between the seized items and any particular individual. Therefore, no person was identified as a suspect in connection with the operation.
In addition to examining the items found at the site, officers also educated residents about the dangers of drug abuse and illegal narcotics trafficking.
The operation was part of the "Kegiatan Rutin Yang Ditingkatkan" (KRYD), or enhanced routine police activities, as well as ongoing efforts to prevent and combat narcotics abuse and illegal trafficking (P4GN) within the jurisdiction of the Labuhanbatu Selatan Police.
The operation, led by Iptu Rajo Irawan Hamonangan, involved Aiptu Hendrik Sinaga, Aiptu Lisdiyanto, Aiptu Dani Tri, Aipda Rudi Gultom, Aipda Bustamil Arifin, Bripka Markus F. Sihombing, Briptu Teopilus Gurusinga, Briptu M. Ryan Fadilah, Bripda Torop R. Manurung, and Bripda Arifin HS. Asahan Hamlet Head Salamun also accompanied the implementation of the GSN operation.

Status of Seized Items Still Under Examination
Police are continuing to examine and assess the items recovered during the search. There have been no findings regarding possible laboratory results or any connection between the seized items and specific individuals.
Therefore, the seven bongs, nine empty plastic bags, two lighters, and three plastic pipettes cannot currently be used as a basis for identifying any individual as a suspect.
The police are continuing their investigation in accordance with applicable laws and established legal procedures. The GSN operation was conducted, among other legal grounds, under Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Indonesian National Police.
Torgamba Police again reminded residents to take part in efforts to prevent drug abuse and illegal narcotics trafficking. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the authorities immediately.
According to police, the GSN and KRYD operations are part of ongoing efforts to prevent narcotics abuse and curb illegal drug trafficking within the jurisdiction of the Torgamba Police. (IDNC)
