ACEH TENGAH | INDATANEWS.COM - Aceh Tengah District Police have arrested a 47-year-old man identified by the initials A from Bebesen District. He is suspected of assaulting Budiman, 50, on Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026, in Reje Bukit Hamlet, Simpang Empat Village, Bebesen District.
Officers arrested A after receiving a report from residents regarding the
alleged assault, which reportedly occurred at around 8:30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB). When police arrived at the scene at approximately 9:00 a.m., the alleged perpetrator was still there.
According to the police's initial findings, the incident began when Budiman parked his vehicle at a resident's house. He then confronted A after noticing cigarette smoke coming from a room.
A Remark Escalates into a Dispute
The remark led to a verbal argument. The dispute eventually escalated into a struggle over an air rifle that the alleged perpetrator was reportedly carrying at the time.
During the altercation, A allegedly pushed Budiman, causing him to fall to the ground. The suspect then allegedly struck the victim on the head with the
air rifle.
Budiman sustained a head injury in the incident. Residents who witnessed what happened took him to Datu Beru Regional Hospital in Takengon for medical treatment.
After receiving the report,
Aceh Tengah Police officers immediately went to the scene. Police arrested A and secured the evidence to prevent any further escalation while ensuring that the legal process could proceed properly.
Officers also gathered initial information from residents and others who were aware of the incident. The alleged perpetrator was subsequently taken to the police station for further questioning and investigation in accordance with applicable procedures.

Police Arrest Alleged Perpetrator
Aceh Tengah Police Chief AKBP Muhamad Taufiq, S.I.K., M.H., through Criminal Investigation Unit Chief AKP Abdul Mufakhir, S.I.K., M.H., said authorities were handling the case professionally and in accordance with the law.
"The alleged perpetrator and the evidence have been secured. Investigators are also questioning witnesses and documenting the scene to establish the incident in full," he said.
Aceh Tengah Criminal Investigation Unit officers are currently questioning several witnesses to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the incident. Investigators are also documenting the scene and securing evidence believed to be connected to the case.
